maritime qualities

description

Arrival from the south is limited by a clearance height of 8.9 m and access from the north is limited by a clearance height of 10 m. If you have a greater clearance height than this, the only alternative is from the northwest. The channel is narrow with several shallow areas but incredibly beautiful. Our boat drafts 2 m and had no difficulties entering here. There is an overhead cable with a clearance height of 29 m crossing the northern channel. The harbour is very well sheltered from most directions. You moor at floating docks that are in good condition even though they have been here for a few years. Benches on the quay and a shop as well as fuel filling close by. Adequate depth at the northern end of the dock but further south it will be somewhat challenging with a 2 m draft.

Entrance and maritime conditions: Alnes is located northwest on Godþya just west of Ålesund. Easy approach and ample space within the breakwater. Good depth throughout the harbor.
Mooring: Mooring to a floating dock. Space is somewhat limited on the guest dock, and with 4 boats around 40 feet, it becomes full along the quay. In that case, the alternative is to raft up outside one another. It is also possible to anchor and swing within the harbor.
The area: Within the breakwater, there is a small sandy beach that is nice for both children and adults to swim from. Not far away, there is also a larger beach, but if the weather comes from the west or southwest, it can be quite fresh on that beach. Alnes is a cozy little place with a lot of beautiful hiking terrain in the area. The path up the mountain starts right by the guest harbor. Alnes lighthouse is also a nice landmark, and out here there is an art exhibition and a small café.

Approach and maritime conditions: BrattvĂ„gen is located north of Ålesund and west of Molde and can be a good alternative if you are sailing along the coast and planning to enter the fjord towards Molde or Åndalsnes. The ferry quay in BrattvĂ„gen is situated close to the guest harbour, and there is a shipyard a bit further into the bay, so there might be some traffic at the entrance to the harbour. The guest harbour is well sheltered, and once docked here, other ship traffic is hardly noticeable.
Docking: Mooring to a floating dock with a short distance to the service building. The guest dock is marked.
The area: It is about 1 km to BrattvÄg town centre from the guest dock. BrattvÄg town centre has a small selection of shops, cafes, a bakery, a hairdresser, etc. There are also some hiking trails in the area.

Mooring: Alongside on a large floating dock
The area: SandĂžya is relatively flat and it is nice to cycle or walk here. Very little car traffic. There are some really nice beaches on the northeast side of SandĂžya. A small drawback is that there is currently a considerable walk from the guest dock to a somewhat older service building where there are showers/WC and a trash can.

Approach and maritime conditions: The sailor's cabin and the associated quay facility are reserved for sailboats.
Anchoring: Bow mooring to a buoy and stern mooring to a concrete floating dock.
The area: HjertĂžya has many good mooring options and this particular facility belongs to Molde Sailing Association. There are many nice hiking areas and recreational areas on HjertĂžya.

Approach and maritime conditions: Ikornnes is located in the next fjord after HjĂžrundfjorden on the way into Storfjorden. On the opposite side of Ikornnes lies Sykkylven, and there is a bridge between Sykkylven and Ikornnes. The approach to Ikkornnes is very simple and straightforward. The marina itself is located directly north of the bridge so you do not have to go under it to get to the marina, making it easier for sailboats.
Mooring: Mooring to floating docks that have wind protection from the north. Good depth along the entire quay.
The area: Ikornnes marina is located right next to Ikornnes Friluftsbad, which is an outdoor bathing facility with heated water. The temperature in the pools is around 30 degrees and it is a popular place among both children and young people. Right on the quay is Promenaden Mat & Vinhus, which is open Thursday - Sunday. There are many hiking trails in the area and it is well-equipped for cycling for those who bring their bikes. There are several grilling areas on the quay.

Approach and Maritime Conditions: The harbor is located in Ørsta, at the innermost part of Ørstafjorden. A nice little detour from Vartdalsfjorden.
Mooring: Mooring at floating docks. Guest spots are located at the very innermost part of the harbor. Somewhat shallow, especially at the inlet where the depth is around 2 meters at low tide.
The Area: A great playground with various equipment and trampolines can be found near the marina. Ørsta has several good quality restaurants and there are also hiking areas nearby.

Approach and maritime conditions: 175 NOK up to 40ft and 220 NOK over

LangevĂ„g is located just south of Ålesund.
Mooring: Guest spots along the concrete pier and there is good depth at the guest spots. The fast boat dock is close to the guest harbor, which makes the harbor somewhat restless.
The area: In LangevÄgen, you will find the Devold factory with outlet stores for clothing, etc. Grocery stores and cafes are nearby.
