Approach and maritime conditions: The harbor is located at the innermost part of Altafjorden. Guest berths at the entrance. It can be a bit unsettled on the outside of the pier, towards the east. Fuel filling on the inside of the pier. Shallow at low tide on the inside of the floating pier.
Berthing: Guest berths at the floating pier. Moor alongside.
The area: Alta is the largest town in Finnmark with 21,000 inhabitants (2020). Alta is particularly known for Altaelva, northern lights experiences, and the petroglyphs. The petroglyphs are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Alta also has a unique church in the middle of the city's center; the Northern Lights Cathedral. There are many nice hiking opportunities in the area around Alta.
