Approach and maritime conditions: Brennvik is located southeast of Helnesund in Steigen. Inside the bay, there are high mountains to the south, a huge sandy beach to the east and north with scattered buildings. The area is very shallow, with otherwise little to watch out for.
Anchoring: Depending on the depth you want to anchor at, there is a sandy bottom and likely more clay in deeper waters. A good anchor holds well. It is assumed that it can be restless when anchored if the wind and sea come from the west. A good tender is advisable for getting to land. The area is very shallow, and the beach is long and beautiful.
The area: The beach and surrounding areas are great for hiking, swimming, and sunbathing, if temperatures allow, as elsewhere in Northern Norway. On land to the north, there is also a shelter with a campfire and grilling facilities set up by the locals. If you leave it in the same condition as when you arrived, you will likely be able to use it again. It is nice to go for walks both on land and, with a good tender or a small boat, you will find many small beaches and gems along the northern side of the bay.
