Easy to enter. Lovely suroundings, and nice people. Me and Seacaptain Eric Fleetwood where here in 2004.
If you have a digny. Dont forgett to exploor the long natural thunnel just around the corner, south from the harbour. In the middle its about 15 meters high and a fantastic acustic, so sing a song.
A lots of curias seals is also to be seen along the shoreline. And offcourse, a lots of puffins.

Be aware that the sea can build up significantly in the tidal currents at the southern and northern tips. For example, if you are heading southwest to the Orkney Islands.
Feel free to bring a plank in case you need to dock at the pier. It only has poles that stick down into the sea.
There are neither lights nor sea marks at the entrance, except for a red lateral mark inside the breakwater, so you should arrive during daylight.
Tip for a lovely trip: go to the store, then walk directly west over the fields for 300m. There is a fantastic view and you get close to the puffins.
From 2024, the bird observatory with accommodation might be fully constructed.

Entry is OK, except for strong N and NE winds; fixed quay only; mooring alongside, rafting very often; one berth for ferry; tidal currents around the island; no recommended anchorages; nice walks and perfect bird watching; no restaurants, just one grocery store; former building of the bird observatory destroyed by fire, new one under construction.

Want to know how the wind score works? Then you should read this explanation.
The wind forecasts come from yr.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), and was last updated 1 hour and 44 minutes ago (Wednesday 15 January 05:15 AM). The next night score shows you the worst hour between 22:00 and 08:00 the next night. We recommend that you check multiple sources for wind forecasts. windy.com is a good website to show larger wind systems.
The safe wind directions for this harbour has been decided by an algorithm, based on how elevated the land around the harbour is. It's mostly correct, but sometimes the underlying data about elevation levels is not good enough to make correct decisions. It's a great help to other if you can validate or adjust the safe wind directions. You can see the data used by the algorithm to decide the safe wind directions by clicking here.
