Fjellbacka er et gammelt fiskesamfunn som domineres av en stor granittkirke og fjellet bak tettstedet. Fjellbakka er et populært turistmål både for båtfarende og bilkjørende. Til tross for bilene er det et sjarmerende sted med gammel bebyggelse. Mange av de gamle husene brukes i dag som fritidsboliger, mens de fastboende har flyttet lenger inn på land til moderne boliger. Det er en rekke restauranter og cafeer langs strandkanten og opp bakken ligger det flere butikker. Kunstbutikker finner man også her med kunstnere som bruker Fjellbackas skjærgård som motiver.

En fin tur er å bestige Vetterfjellet gjennom Ramneklovan – en lang og dyp kløft i fjellet. Gå opp ved Ingrid Bergman statuetten på torget. På toppen er en fantastisk utsikt over den gedigne skjærgården utenfor Fjellbacka. Den dominerende granittkirken er også verd et besøk. Her er det av og til konserter.

Det er en stor gjestehavn med brygger både inne ved torget og utenfor badeholmen. Ved sistnevnte er det lenger å gå inn til sentrum, men man har kort vei til badeplass. Det er dusj og toalett ved torget og på badeholmen, vann på bryggene. Du ligger trygt i havna, men sydvesten tar godt her.
