description
This is a great place to anchor especially when ocean conditions are rough and you don't want to leave San Diego Bay
The overnight Anchorage is marked just west of the golf course by yellow buoys
There are often quite a few boats in the small area especially on nice weekends and you may not be able to put down as much chain as you would like, but the Sandy bottom is good for anchoring and we have never dragged the anchor even when the wind picks up
You can stay for up to 72 hours but you do need to make a reservation with https://www.portofsandiego.org/
Although you are supposed to make reservations at least 24 hours in advance, my wife has been successful getting same-day reservations when the ocean has prevented us from heading out of the bay and going north
There is a nice public dock you can tie up to by the boat launch to the west. There is also a really nice boat rental dock you can tie up to at the north west end. The fee is $10, but your tender is safe inside a secured area so you don't have to worry if you are going for a walk around Coronado

Want to know how the wind score works? Then you should read this explanation.
The wind forecasts come from yr.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), and was last updated -377 minutes ago (Wednesday 06 May 12:18 AM). The next night score shows you the worst hour between 22:00 and 08:00 the next night. We recommend that you check multiple sources for wind forecasts. windy.com is a good website to show larger wind systems.
The safe wind directions for this harbour has been decided by an algorithm, based on how elevated the land around the harbour is. It's mostly correct, but sometimes the underlying data about elevation levels is not good enough to make correct decisions. It's a great help to other if you can validate or adjust the safe wind directions. You can see the data used by the algorithm to decide the safe wind directions by clicking here.
