This Marina is very close to the city center which makes it a perfect point of departure when exploring the city. However the Marina itself and immediate surroundings are not that interesting. A 10 min walk will take you to the main shopping area and restaurants.

Its worth noting that all guest berths are managed by dockspot so dont forget to book beforehand. Yet, we never got our booked berth because another boat occupied it. Hamnvärden had limited options for finding solutions with no open berths and many guests arriving all the time. All in all a bit chaotic and not a great experience, but he did manage to find a spot for us in the end.

There are several guest harbors in Gothenburg. I have stayed in Långedrag, a bit outside the city center, but I recommend Gothenburg guest harbor at Lilla Bommen in the city center. It is located by the opera in the heart of the city, and everything is within easy reach. There is also a guest harbor in a marina further up the Göta River. The approach to Gothenburg is marked by large industrial ports. It is the largest port in the Nordics with many ship calls every day, but there is plenty of space for leisure boats too. You pass a fantastic replica of a warship from the sailing ship era.

Gothenburg is a city comparable in size to Oslo. You don't sail here to experience charm, idyll, or beautiful nature. Here you find everything a big city can offer. Gothenburg has wide boulevards and large, stately houses and seems to have been a wealthier city than Oslo. Many restaurants and cafes with outdoor seating in the summer. The main attractions for vacationers are Liseberg and Universeum. They are 10 minutes by bus (red or green route) from the harbor. Liseberg is a large amusement park with the Nordics' biggest and scariest roller coaster. There are enormous crowds during the holiday season, and queues of up to an hour for a ride. Money goes quickly here. Universeum is a mix of a zoo, aquarium, and technical museum. Personally, I think Universeum is far preferable to Liseberg.

Gothenburg guest harbor is well protected from all winds. There is electricity and water on the piers and WC, shower, and washing machines by the harbor office. It is quite open around the harbor, and a large square and roads must be crossed before you reach the city itself. Not much happens in the harbor. There is a small café next to the harbor office and a pub in the barque Viking, which is moored at the guest harbor. It is a large sailing ship used as a hotel. On the other side of the large square, there is a big shopping center with groceries among other things. This is also where the shopping streets start.
