description
Very good anchorage in a lagoon where one can shelter from all winds. Grantley Harbor is a good place to wait for a weather window, whether heading south or north.
A place steeped in history: in 1900, the small town of Teller had over 5,000 inhabitants. Today, there are just over 200 left. The locals are friendly and it is a pleasant place to meet people.
Diesel is available in jerrycans (7.94 USD per gallon), along with a small community store, a clinic, a school, and a church. There is also an airstrip and a road leading to Nome.
Approach: the channel is clear and allows access for vessels with up to 4 meters draft.
Anchoring is done in front of the village, in 3.5 meters of water, on a sandy and muddy bottom providing good holding.
