Grundsund ligger, som navnet sier, i et grundt sund. Innseilingen er fra nord. Det er bebyggelse på begge sider med sjøboder og gamle hus. Det er fastlandsforbindelse og noe biler. På østsiden er det en butikk, på vestsiden ligger kirken. Her er også en liten strand lengst syd i sundet ved marinaen. Ytterst ved moloen på østsiden ligger en café med flott utsikt over leden som går forbi. Her begynner også en tursti som er bygget over klippene langs vannet.

Det er gjesteplasser på begge sider, men man ligger best på vestsiden av sundet. Her er det lunt for sydvesten. Gjestehavnen ligger ved en parkeringsplass, men det er kort vei til en trivelig, brostenslagt gate. Vann og strøm i havnen.
