Innseiling og maritime forhold: Herøysundet ligg ved Herøya, i Flåværleia. Ver merksam på grunner sb-side og bb-side like før du kjem inn Herøysundet. Innseglinga er godt merka og det er ei god hamn å ligge i. Ver merksam på vind frå sørvest. Djupna er 7,7 m og 5 m ved land.
Ankring: I Herøysundet kan ein fortøye både mot land og med anker i hamna. Djupna er 7,7 meter. Sjå elles sjøkart for detaljar.
På motsett side/nordsida av Herøya er det fast kai med enkel flytebrygge som kan nyttast fritt. Djupna er 2,3 meter, og ein kan segle inn frå Flåværleia på begge sider av Stegleholmen.

I sanitærbygget bak museet er det ferskvasskran og døgnope toalett i perioda påske-haustferien.
På p-plassen (200 m å gå) er det avfallskontainarar.



Området: Øya Herøy har hatt ein sentral plass i regionen i over 1000 år. Her var kyrkjestad med gildestove i middelalderen, tingstad, prestegard og handelsstad fram til 1916. Herøy var den fyrste viktige hamna nord for Stadt og øya ligg i Flåværleia – farleia som til alle tider har bore dei sjøfarande enten rakt i gjennom til andre mål eller til ei trygg hamn i sjølve leia.

I dag kan ein besøkje Herøy gard med kystmuseet og Sunnmørsjekta Anna Olava, som utgjer den gamle handelsstaden slik den såg ut på 1700-1800 talet. Herøy gard er også nøkkelstad langs Kystpilegrimsleia og er eit nydeleg rekreasjonsområde med turveg, tursti og pilegrimsti. Ein ta seg til øya både med båt og bil.
