description
Hyppeln is located between Marstrand and Gothenburg. There are many populated islands in the archipelago outside Gothenburg. These are old fishing communities that have gradually become almost suburbs of Gothenburg. Many of the permanent residents commute to Gothenburg and there are ferries to the islands. Some of the houses are also used as summer homes.
Hyppeln has a pleasant guest harbour with tables and grills on the pier. There is a small shop and a café by the harbour. There is a beautiful coastal path around the whole island. The island is not so big that it takes more than an hour to walk around. The island is situated at the outer edge of the archipelago and the sun sets in the sea. From the top near the water tower, you have a nice view. On the north side of the island, there is a small beach with a swimming pier. The small community has a mix of old and new houses. Some with asbestos panels and some renovated. Despite there being only a few hundred meters of road here, a car ferry comes here and there are cars parked by the houses. It is the island's beautiful nature that raises the overall impression.
The harbour is east-facing and has a breakwater. It is safe in all wind directions, but it can be quite windy in the harbour as the island is low towards the southwest. Water and electricity are available on the pier. The service facility is relatively new and has toilets and showers.

Want to know how the wind score works? Then you should read this explanation.
The wind forecasts come from yr.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), and was last updated 1 hour and 33 minutes ago (Monday 17 March 12:27 PM). The next night score shows you the worst hour between 22:00 and 08:00 the next night. We recommend that you check multiple sources for wind forecasts. windy.com is a good website to show larger wind systems.
The safe wind directions for this harbour has been decided by an algorithm, based on how elevated the land around the harbour is. It's mostly correct, but sometimes the underlying data about elevation levels is not good enough to make correct decisions. It's a great help to other if you can validate or adjust the safe wind directions. You can see the data used by the algorithm to decide the safe wind directions by clicking here.
