Orkney’s biggest marina. The three marinas (Kirkwall, Stromness and Pierowall) are run by a friendly volunteer group so offices generally open at limited times. Here it was 9-10am when fuel is also available. Harbourmaster is separate and seemed not interested in Marina matters. You generally find a spot yourself and in can easily get crowded for bigger boat spaces on end berths in particular. Spaces for up to 37ft say on inside berths but watch depth. Good basic facilities with showers taking £1 coin for 6mins. Laundry on high street in town. Great fish and chip shop. Car hire expensive but recommended to really see mainland. Buses - around island to sights and to airport and Aberdeen Ferry - are very good also.

Well-protected harbor, only a 5-minute walk to the center where there are attractions, restaurants, shops, and laundry facilities. Be aware of occasionally very strong currents in Shapinsay Sound. There are water hoses on all the docks, and if you moor some distance away from the crane, they may not reach. It is possible to fill up on diesel when the harbor master is on duty, which is twice a day.

Want to know how the wind score works? Then you should read this explanation.
The wind forecasts come from yr.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), and was last updated 1 hour and 52 minutes ago (Sunday 24 May 01:14 AM). The next night score shows you the worst hour between 22:00 and 08:00 the next night. We recommend that you check multiple sources for wind forecasts. windy.com is a good website to show larger wind systems.
The safe wind directions for this harbour has been decided by an algorithm, based on how elevated the land around the harbour is. It's mostly correct, but sometimes the underlying data about elevation levels is not good enough to make correct decisions. It's a great help to other if you can validate or adjust the safe wind directions. You can see the data used by the algorithm to decide the safe wind directions by clicking here.
