Letty Harbour est un charmant ancien comptoir de la Hudson’s Bay Company, aujourd’hui abandonné.
C’est un excellent petit mouillage, protégé sur 360°. Le fond de vase est de bonne tenue et la glace a la réputation de ne pas y entrer. En frappant des aussières à terre, on peut y mouiller deux bateaux.
Le bassin du mouillage est relativement dégagé, avec des profondeurs comprises entre 3,5 et 6 mètres.
L’approche peut se faire par le nord ou par le sud. La cartographie étant incomplète, l’utilisation d’une image satellite constitue une aide appréciable.
Par le nord, on entre entre l’île Racing et l’île Burrow.
Par le sud, on passe entre le sud de l’île Burrow sud et la péninsule Parry, en franchissant un seuil de 6 mètres. Il faut ensuite bien contourner le haut-fond par le nord.
Attention aux ours polaires : ils ne sont jamais très loin.
