Important for the whole region of the English Channel and Normandy is that the large 9-10 meter tides and their associated currents strongly effect anchorages, marinas, and navigation in general.

In this case it means that arriving and leaving the harbor is limited to periods around high tide. Despite dredging the outer breakwater entrance sand), there is only about 0.2 to 1 m of water at spring lows. Once inside, there are three basin areas, of which the SW one is basically limited to swimming and trailer boat access (via a free ramp).

The second basin is just inside a second partial breakwater and is used for transient guests and the ferries that go to the Channel Islands. It works well for all normal boat sizes, but is exposed to significant surge at middle to high tide, especially with winds/waves from the north and west.

The third basin is behind a sill and is only available at all for entrance and exit the 2-4 hours around high tides. Thanks to the sill and being farther in there is less surge, though at high tide the surge is still noticeable, especially with rough weather.

Dielette is a small tourist village nowadays, and busy during the summer and weekends with fine weather, otherwise quite sleepy. It has a nice park with playground, a couple of restaurants in the harbor, and some pizza and ice-cream places during the summer.

A 15 minute, pretty, walk along the bluffs to the NE gets you to the wide and deep beaches of Siouville-Hague, which are popular for vacationers with swimming, board surfing, and kiting. Over the high hills to the SW you come to Plage du Sciotot, also with wide deep beaches and water activities, as well as somewhat more choice of restaurants, etc.
