description
Approach and maritime conditions: Solstråleøya is located outside Godøsund Fjordhotell (former hotel, the area is not in operation). Both of the mentioned wooden piers (the pier by the house cannot be used if the house is rented out) have good depth for sailboats. The pier by the house can be a bit obstructed by small boat traffic, while the pier on the northern side can get some swell in northerly winds.
Anchoring: There are 3 piers on Solstråleøya. The pier below the house is private (owned by the coastal association), call the phone number listed on the pier and ask if the house is rented out. If not, you can probably stay there for a small fee. Further inside the strait (towards Våge) there is a small floating pier suitable for smaller boats. On the northern side of the island there is a wooden pier that is a public area, here you can dock for free. Beautifully developed area with benches and a fire pit on land. At this pier, there is also shore power available (for a fee; docking at the pier itself is free). There is only room for one boat; alternatively, boats can dock alongside each other.
The area: Free-ranging chickens on the island during the summer, you can collect eggs and pay using Vipps. Many small walking trails and information boards about the island's history.
