Stora Kornö ligger bare 7 sjømil sydøst for Smögen, men er den fullstendige kontrast til Smögen. Her er det ingen restauranter, turistbutikker eller luksus yachter. Her er det bare gamle hus, noen sauer og en kiosk som selger is og postkort. En fredelig idyll. Stora Kornö skal være Sveriges best bevarte fiskehavn. Her finnes gamle tømmerkoier og gamle, sjarmerende hus. Det er ingen fastboende igjen, men etterkommerne til fiskerne bruker husene som sommersted og tar godt vare på de.

Det er fint å gå tur på øya og en sti sydover fører til et beiteområde for sauer. Videre utover på sydøstsiden finnes en liten grotte som isen og vannet har gravet ut. Mot sydvest kommer man til en strand med selskjær utenfor. På nordøstsiden av øya finnes den mest populære badestranden. Den er i le for sydvesten, men selve stranden er middels.

Et stort hus brukes som sommerleir for barn, og her er en liten kiosk som selger is og postkort.

Gjestehavnen er en flytebrygge som ligger utenfor de private plassene. Bare båter mindre enn 9 meter får ligge på innsiden. Havnen er lun for sydlige og vestlige vinder, men er utsatt for nordavind. Da kan det bli litt skvalp på utsiden av flytebrygga.

Naboøya Lille Kornø er et tilsvarende sted, men litt mindre.
