There are two guest harbours on Nord-Koster: one in Kostersundet and one at Vettnett in the northeast.

Vettnett has a smaller harbour. It is very cozy, and sheltered from the southwest, but is best suited for smaller boats. The floating dock on the outer part of the harbour is exposed to waves from passing ferries and northern winds. Deep inside, boats are well protected. There's no commercial activity here, but a nice beach is located right by the harbour. There's also a fantastic beach near the campsite on the north side of the island.

Approach and maritime conditions: Easy approach. All the way inside the harbor it is very sheltered. There, boats dock bow towards land and with a stern anchor. Have seen sailboats all the way inside, but never dared to go all the way in myself.
Docking outside the floating piers can be uncomfortable (waves) in easterly winds. Also, a bit of wake from passing boats.
Mooring: The piers were renovated in 2019. This resulted in a few fewer spots for visiting boats. You moor to floating piers, either alongside or bow/stern. There are also a few spots with mooring bays. Outside the piers, it can get quite choppy if the wind is from the east.
It's also possible to anchor outside the harbor, but this is part of the national park, so during peak season there are restrictions on where you can drop anchor. This is marked with laid-out buoys with information signs. You can anchor outside these buoys, but be aware that there can be a considerable current in the strait. The anchorage is OK, but not super good - mud/muck.
Update: In 2023, a booking system was introduced for the piers. A red or green light indicates if the spot is available, and bookings are valid from 1200 to 1200 the next day. Outside the piers, where there are no mooring bays, there are "drop-in spots."

The area: North Koster is absolutely fantastic! Take a walk!!!
Start from Vettnet. Walk north towards/through the campsite and turn left when you reach the sea/Norrvikarna. Follow marked trails around much of the island. Try to stay as close to the outer edge of the island as possible. There are several paths, but I think this is the nicest walk. You'll experience rocky outcrops, cultural/pasture land, massive pebble areas, deciduous forest, coniferous forest. On the way back, you can swing by Kostersundet and have a cold beer at Galleien.
