Åstol è una piccola isola rotonda densamente popolata da case antiche. Ha un diametro di soli 700 metri, ma vi vivono 300 persone più molti visitatori estivi. L'isola è stata abitata durante il periodo di pesca delle aringhe nel 1700 e ci sono ancora pescatori qui. Tuttavia, le abitazioni di oggi sono di data più recente.

L'isola si trova appena a nord di Marstrand ed è quindi facile da passare in navigazione. Ma vale assolutamente la pena una visita - è un'idillio.
