Approach and maritime conditions: Storesand is located south on Kirkøy, west of Skjærhalden. The approach is nice south/east of the south mark. Watch out for swimmers.
Anchoring: Small boats can go ashore, but larger boats should anchor offshore. Decent sandy bottom at 4-5 meters depth towards the swimming buoys, anchor with good distance from them. Double-check that the anchor holds, as there are some reefs and rocks underwater.
The area: Storesand is a large and popular beach. There is a campsite on the grass towards Sjursholmen in the direction of Homlungen lighthouse. There is also a visitor center here with a kiosk and activities: https://ytrehvaler.no/besokssenter-ytre-hvaler-skjaerhalden-og-storesand/
