Really dramatic anchorage, there is also a small pontoon for visiting boats/yachts. We anchored north of small island in 6 meters. We draw 1.7m. Mud and sand, good holding, calm night, no winds.
Pretty challenging but well defined climb up to the peak of Hesten Norge, don’t forget midge repellent if climbing in evening! If you’re a bit wobbly bring a hiking stick and wear decent walking shoes/boots. Fantastic views over harbour, surrounding islands and further in to mainland Norway.

description
Entrance and maritime conditions: The island of Alden is well visible, with its peak towering above all the surrounding islands. Alden is also called the Norwegian Horse.
Anchoring: Floating dock with space for 3-5 boats and good depth for sailboats.
The old quay with car tires is occasionally accessed by a shuttle boat.
It is possible to anchor in several places in the bay. Wind strength and direction can be unpredictable due to the high mountain and downdrafts.
The area: The harbor is a great starting point for a hike up to the top of Alden. A moderately challenging hike of about 3km up to the peak at 480m.

Want to know how the wind score works? Then you should read this explanation.
The wind forecasts come from yr.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), and was last updated 1 hour and 53 minutes ago (Thursday 23 January 09:27 PM). The next night score shows you the worst hour between 22:00 and 08:00 the next night. We recommend that you check multiple sources for wind forecasts. windy.com is a good website to show larger wind systems.

Alden - Norskehesten is surrounded by high hills or mountains. When strong winds come from the mountainous side there is a risk of turbulent or katabatic winds (also called "fall winds"), which may be rather unpleasant. In such conditions, you should not rely on the wind protection score for the coming night. Click to edit.
