Fortøyning med dregg mot land på vestsiden eller langs godt fendret kai på østsiden. En del trafikk på holmens østside kan gi bølger langs kaien.

Holmen ligger lunt til for alle vind retninger. Særlig på dager med kjølig trekk fra nord er dette en fin plass.

Beliggende i/rett ved indre led ca 10 nm nord for Bergen. Holmen ligger lunt og trivelig til i Alverstraumen. Holmen er friområde tilhørende BOF.

Det er strøm i Alverstraumen. Ankring bør skje på vestsiden av holmen. Grunner i området er merket med staker. Lett adkomst fra begge løp, vær oppmerksom på at strømmen kan sette sterkt på de smaleste strekkene i Alverstraumen.
