Det er tre gjestehavner i Lysekil. Den viktigste ligger lengst syd. Der er en stor småbåthavn hvor to deler er gjestehavn. Den ene delen er av og til reservert for seilarrangementer. Det er isboder og restaurant i havneområdet. Litt lenger inn ligger en gjestehavn i fiskehavnen. Den er mindre attraktiv. På andre siden av neset ligger det også en gjestehavn i et industriområde. Jeg vil nesten si at hvis man ikke får plass i hovedgjestehavnen, så dropp Lysekil og gå til Fiskebäckskil på andre siden av fjorden.

Lysekil er en småby på størrelse med Strømstad, men ikke fult så mye turister. Byen ligger på et nes med havner på begge sider. Den ytterste delen er friområde med strender og svaberg. Fra sjøen dominerer den store granittkirken bildet. Den gamle delen av byen er ganske trivelig. Den sydligste delen av består av gamle trehus. Gamlebyen i sentrum har brostensbelagte gater og store trehus. I sentrum ligger et trivelig lite torg med kaféer. Lenger inn er mer ordinær by. Byens største attraksjon er Havets hus – et fint akvarium. Ikke stort, men verdt å se. På samme billetten kan man spille minigolf utenfor og det er kafé der med utsikt over sjøen.
