description
The floating dock should not be used by boat guests. These are for access by rowboat/kayak for overnight guests to the DNT cabin. Boat guests should use the quay on the west side. The quay can be used provided that the visit is paid for according to the current price list posted at the cabin. Consider other guests.
Austrheim is a fantastic area, especially for motorboats. A myriad of islands, straits, islets, and skerries, several recreational areas, and municipal quays that can be used. Everything is inshore yet right by the sea. Easily accessible from inner and outer routes, but be aware, here you will test your navigation skills with navigation markers, beacons, cairns, lights, and flashes through countless narrow straits.
Due to overhead cables and several low bridges, sailors should plan their arrival at this harbor from the west from Fedjeosen or north from Fensfjorden. There are overhead cables at 20 meters for both directions, from the east and south there are bridges at 6 meters that you must pass under. To approach the quay, you must go under an overhead cable at 12 meters. For this reason, the quay is not available for boats taller than 12 meters. Boats under 20 meters can anchor in the bay outside the floating dock. Boats taller than 20 meters cannot approach the harbor.

Rongevær coastal cabin has a long tradition. It was built as Rongevær school in the 1930s and was in use until 1989. It was closed down when the islands in the outer part of Austrheim municipality got a road. Then the bus took over for the boat, and the school was converted into the Rongevær coastal and leisure center. In June 2021, the Turlaget entered a long-term agreement with Austrheim municipality. Bergen and Hordaland Turlag's first coastal cabin became a reality!
The entire facility consists of a main building and a two-story boathouse with an assembly hall, 100 m2 quay, and floating dock.
Skulehuset - Several living rooms, sleeping places for 24 people distributed between rooms and loft. There is a dining room and a larger common room. Newly renovated and inviting. Kitchen with, among other things, a dishwasher, coffee maker, and refrigerator. Several toilets and bathrooms with showers. There are 2 children's beds with duvets/pillows and high chairs available. One bed is placed in room 12 and one in the storeroom on the 2nd floor. This is a travel bed that can be used where needed.
Naustet - Many smaller bedrooms with bunk beds. A total of 6 rooms with space for 14 people. 3 rooms are adapted for dogs with dog crates. One room has an extra door width and is partially wheelchair accessible. 2 toilets with shower/bath. On the ground floor, there is a larger assembly hall. Here, tables can be set for 30 - 40 guests. This room has electricity but no heating. Suitable for use in summer.
Rongevær coastal cabin is located on the island of Nordra Kjerringa. It is about 300 meters as the crow flies from the end place/parking on Baløy to the coastal cabin. Possibility for launching a kayak at the turning point. Calm waters between Baløy and Nordra Kjerringa. The trip is protected from waves and takes place in calm waters.
A floating dock facility has been established on Baløy with rowboats that guests can use to and from the coastal cabin. In the boat shed (300 meters from the marina) there are life jackets and other equipment. There is a code box for access.
Rongevær coastal cabin has wireless broadband. In Skulehuset, there is a screen set up both in the dining room and the fireplace room. The best connection is on the 2nd floor. The Naust and outdoor areas have poor coverage. See notices at the entrance to Skulehuset.
