Ce mouillage peut devenir intéressant en début de saison pour un atterrissage lorsque Nanortalik, Qaqortoq ou les deux sont pris dans les glaces. C'est également un excellent mouillage pour se protéger des coups de vent d'ouest à nord. Par vent du sud, la houle peut y entrer.

On y mouille au fond de la crique par 10 mètres sur un substrat composé de boue, d’algue et roche, avec des aussières tirées à terre. Il est déconseillé de mouiller par 20 mètres de fond, car des icebergs y pénètrent fréquemment. De hautes antennes de télécommunications sont installées au sommet de l'île. De petites randonnées sont possibles à terre.
