Innseiling og maritime forhold: Søndre Missingene ligger ca 6 km sørvest for Slevik og ca 3 km sør for Rauer, Fredrikstad. To overrettmerker (svarte triangler på hvit bunn) markerer innseilingen fra øst, hold klar av Missingskjæra øst for Sønsre Missingene.
Ankring: 8 meter. Det er plass til et par båter på brygga, ellers er det fortøyning longsides til land, hekkanker og baug inn eller svai som gjelder.
Området: Størstedelen av øya er naturreservat, men området rundt brygga er friluftsområde. Berggrunnen består av et konglomerat av rombeporfyr, en vulkansk bergart. Det gir et spennende landskap, men fjellet kan enkelte steder være ganske skarpt. Stedet er mye brukt til dykking, bl.a. pga fregatten Schleswig som sank her i 1711
