The northern harbour is not the best sheltered. The ferries are not making any stay comfortable except if you can reach the inner harbour. The are good reason why the southern harbour is favoured by most.
The inner harbour, as August 2026, was still indicated to be barred by an electric line with 12m clearance but that line has been removed (see photo). The canal accessing the inner harbour remains narrow and shallow (1.9m) but better sheltered would be difficult.
Distance between north and south harbour is about 1km by the road.
Walk in the island can be found here.

Utsira - a gem out at sea. Most boat tourists choose to stay in the more sheltered Sørevågen. The outer part of Nordvikvågen is characterized by the ferry quay and appears unappealing, but just a few minutes away, both homemade cake and simple fish dishes are served at Dalanaustet, in the inner part of the harbor.

Want to know how the wind score works? Then you should read this explanation.
The wind forecasts come from yr.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), and was last updated 2 hours and 30 minutes ago (Saturday 22 August 10:28 AM). The next night score shows you the worst hour between 22:00 and 08:00 the next night. We recommend that you check multiple sources for wind forecasts. windy.com is a good website to show larger wind systems.
