If your anchor is sticking out at the bow, my advice is to place it on deck when you enter the basin. This makes it much easier when you are directed to the second row with the bow squeezed between the sterns of two boats.
As mentioned by others. The harbor host will meet you and show you a spot after instructing you on how to fend off. The harbor guard also assists with mooring if you need assistance.

The harbor master came and met us and assigned a spot at the dock. The innermost spots have bottom moorings with sink rope. Remember to use gloves.
