Very sheltered anchorage, even in strong south wind. Night peace. Hiking opportunities from nearby dock. The kids can row on a river expedition in Åbyelven.

description
Approach and maritime conditions: Åbyfjorden is a little piece of Vestland on the Eastern Norway. Easy approach both north and south of Skokeløya. If Langesund is full, you can almost always find a spot here. Alongside berths and free anchoring.
Anchoring: Small dock on the south side of Skokeløya where you can lie with the anchor out the back. Several alongside berths in the fjord, the south side of Ankerholmene is especially popular. You can also lie alongside several places on the south side of Skokeløya, but there can be some movement from swells from the outside. Nice to free anchor in the whole northwest basin.
The area: A dinghy trip up the Åbyelva is an experience, shallow in the entrance. Apparently, there is a lot of sea trout in the fjord and if you set out a crab pot a little further out, you usually get a good catch. Nice and clean seawater. A small and beautiful sandy beach south of Skokeløya where 1-2 boats can lie alongside.
