Innseiling og maritime forhold: Øitangen ligger i Jomfrulandsrenna, helt nord på øya omtrent en nautisk mil nord for gjestehavnen ved Tårnbrygga. Innseiling både fra nord og sør med god oppmerking.
Ankring: Svaiplasser med gode bunnforhold for ankring. Dybden varierer alt fra 5 til 12 meter, avhengig av avstanden fra land. Det er også en enkel brygge her med reserverte plasser blant annet for besøkende til DNT-hyttene, i tillegg til anløpsplass for taxibåtene fra Kragerø og Valle. Det er grunt langs land, så hold litt avstand. Her ligger du trygt for all vind fra sør og øst, men ettermiddagsbrisen fra sørvest kan være sjenerende. Man merker også godt bølgene fra forbipasserende båter.
Området: Jomfruland har fine turmuligheter, strender og severdigheter. Skikkelig sommerparadis. Ved Øitangen finner du også DNTs hyttekompleks og Fugletårnet som er satt opp helt nord på øya.
