description
Saydisfjordur is a safe harbour, and a nice place as a stop-over. No pontoon, so you have to tie up along a pir, but its just a couple of year old and does have rubber posts of the kind that won't leave black spots on your gelcoat. The difference between low and high tide is around 1,6 m. The entrance to the port is easy and straight forward. Call the harbor office (+354 8621424/ +354 470 2360) before you arrive and they will be at the pir taking your lines and guide you in every possible way. They was very helpful and really made us feel welcome.
The pir has electricity and water, but you need to walk into "town" to find the campsite where toilets and free showers can be found.
In town got a few pubs and restaurants. The store (one one) got limited grocery selection, but it covers the most for your everyday needs, except of wine and beer. Alcohol has be purchased at separate monopoly on the walk between the pir and the grocery store which is open just a couple of hours all days except Saturday and Sunday.
There are several hiking paths that makes walking the local hills easy accessible from the pir/ town.

Want to know how the wind score works? Then you should read this explanation.
The wind forecasts come from yr.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute), and was last updated 1 hour and 3 minutes ago (Thursday 11 September 11:18 PM). The next night score shows you the worst hour between 22:00 and 08:00 the next night. We recommend that you check multiple sources for wind forecasts. windy.com is a good website to show larger wind systems.
The safe wind directions for this harbour has been decided by an algorithm, based on how elevated the land around the harbour is. It's mostly correct, but sometimes the underlying data about elevation levels is not good enough to make correct decisions. It's a great help to other if you can validate or adjust the safe wind directions. You can see the data used by the algorithm to decide the safe wind directions by clicking here.
