Gåssten/Skaten is a scenic natural harbour in the outer archipelago, offering peaceful surroundings and beautiful views across the open horizon toward the Åland Sea and the beautiful Svartklubben Fyr. It is best visited in winds from southwest through east and when there is little or no swell. While some sailors report that the seabed can be problematic for anchoring, we did not experienced any problems with holding.

A well protected natural anchorage on Björkö’s east coast and a good stop before making the jump north to Öregrund archipelago. It feels and looks like a lake.

Access is straightforward through the channel between Lilla Änklingen and Björkö, with approximately 3.5 metres of water in the entrance. There are no shore moorings, so vessels anchor freely within the bay. There are two shallow patches of less than 2 metres should be avoided that are visable on standard charts. Once anchored, the bay is well protected from winds from any direction.

Ekskär is a popular clubhouse island for Lidingö’s yacht clubs in the central Stockholm Archipelago, between Svartsö and southern Ljusterö. The sheltered harbour offers mooring buoys, a sauna, toilets, barbecue areas, a swimming area, a children’s playground, and a clubhouse in beautiful natural surroundings. The sauna can be booked by members (req purchase of key), but is usually open to everyone without booking between 7:00 and 9:00 pm in high season.

Visiting boats are welcome if space is available. As of 2026, the overnight fee for non-members is SEK 150 per night, payable via Swish. Members of clubs affiliated with the Lidingö Boating Association stay free. One of the harbour hosts is usually on site to welcome arriving boats, assist with berthing, and answer any questions.

The main harbour is located on the southeastern side of the island. There is also a jetty with two mooring buoys on the west side. The buoys are positioned well offshore, so long mooring lines are required.
