Very well protected, lit entrance and lit buoys in the harbour. Well marked jetties.
We arrived in the night and had no problem finding our spot. Plenty of room to maneuvre.
Busy fishing fleet nearby. Excellent for deep keel yachts at any tide.
Good bus connections to Santander and Bilbao (50 mimutes direct connection)

Excellent chandler and marine supply shop in Macduff. Easy to reach by bus. Nice walk too.

Good marina with extra wide berths, 2,5 miles from the entrance in a rather industrial aerea.
Short walk to a surprisingly beautiful old town centre. Centre Niemeyer for architecture enthusiasts also very close.
Very helpful harbour master, best to book on advance via Navily.

Contact vieux port for a berth before sailing there at vieuxport@portlarochelle.com
and report your arrival on VHF 09.
The lock and bridge will be opened 4 times during one tide cycle, if there is demand. About 3,5 m water is always maintained in the basin de yachts.
Excellent place to be, great old city, very lively too!

Easy to approach, but only suitable for anchoring. A jetty suitable for a 12m boat, but privately occupied. Strong gusty winds possible

Only enter in settled conditions by day, 3 hrs before to 2 hrs after HW due to the shallow Barre. Mind semaphore signals, VHF Ch 13, communication in French only. If in doubt, stay out or in.
Very strong tidal currents in entrance and at visitor jetty.
Excellent sanitary facilities, washing machine etc. and welcoming marina crew.
