Quiet and calm in the middle of the city. All facilities, including free use of gas grills, a large equipped kitchen, and free bike rentals with shopping baskets parked at the dock. Well-equipped maritime shop within walking distance.
Good restaurant in the harbor.
A natural stop for families with children planning a visit to Legoland.
It is not possible to book a spot in advance, but I contacted the harbor master by email the day before arrival and was assigned a spot with my name on a sign at the dock.
Mooring in outriggers, electricity and water on the dock.

Easy access from the northeast. Bolts in the rock and stern anchor.
Nice little islet with beautiful rock formations.
A short dinghy ride from busy Hamburgsund.

A lot of traffic during the high season, current in the strait and not very good anchorage south of the beach.
Few but nice alongside berths north of the beach.

Approach and maritime conditions: Søndre Missingene is located about 6 km southwest of Slevik and about 3 km south of Rauer, Fredrikstad. Two range markers (black triangles on a white background) mark the entrance from the east, keep clear of Missingskjæra east of Søndre Missingene.
Anchoring: 8 meters. There is space for a couple of boats at the dock, otherwise, mooring is done alongside the shore, with a stern anchor and bow in or swinging at anchor.
The area: The majority of the island is a nature reserve, but the area around the dock is a recreational area. The bedrock consists of a conglomerate of rhomb porphyry, a volcanic rock. This creates an exciting landscape, but the rock can be quite sharp in some places. The site is popular for diving, partly because of the frigate Schleswig which sank here in 1711.

Easy access from both north and south. Some nice spots on the southeastern small islets require local knowledge (or a satellite image) to navigate through unmarked areas.
On the large Alholmen, there are bolts in the rock and good depth in several places.
Heavy traffic, but at a slow pace in the strait.
