Approach and maritime conditions: Well sheltered from south-easterly winds, which are common along the Swedish coast, you will find good shelter east of Daftö-Valö. The location is just a dinghy trip away from Strömstad and is a good alternative to staying in the guest harbor inside the city.
Anchoring: Depths from 14 meters and shallower. Further into the bay, about 10 meters. It is also possible to moor alongside the rocks on the small island north in the basin. Bolts have been set into the rock to provide secure mooring. The small island is connected to the mainland by a small bridge.
The area: A short distance to Strömstad, with all facilities available. About 3 km if you choose to walk.

Approach and maritime conditions: The approach from the northwest into the bay is easy. If coming from the west-southwest, be aware of the shallow areas in the west of the bay; however, they are marked with a stake. Good depths far into the bay. Popular anchorage, you should expect quite a few boats here.
Anchoring: Anchoring depth 8 m
The area: A nice west-facing bay close to downtown Oslo. You can really enjoy the evening sun here until late. View towards SjursĂžya (container port), but not intrusive. Popular anchorage. There is a small convenience store between MalmĂžya and OrmĂžya, just a few minutes away by dinghy.

Approach and maritime conditions: Just east of Pinnö there is a nice bay for anchoring, both stern-to and bow-to towards the land, as well as swinging at anchor. Good protection from westerly winds.
Anchoring: In the bay just south of Kullholmen there are good depths up to 10 meters. Further out in the bay, between Kepholmen, LÄngholmen and Pinnö, there is anchoring at about 16 meters.

Just south of the Moss-Horten ferry dock, it is suitable to anchor. Good holding in clay. Virtually no bothersome waves from the BastĂž ferries. Only 3 minutes to Horten guest harbor where it is not a problem to find space for the dinghy. A good alternative to staying in the guest harbor if you prefer to anchor on your own.

Approach and maritime conditions: Unproblematic approach. The entrance to the guest harbor is from the south. See the picture showing where the guest berths are and where the rented fixed berths are. There are good depths everywhere (10-20 m). Be aware of a LOT of commercial traffic in the area. There are ferries to/from Nesodden, all the islands, and to BygdĂžy from Aker Brygge. This also means that there are some waves in the area. If the wind picks up from the south-southwest-west, it can cause some steep uncomfortable waves, so you would not want to stay on the outer side; if there are available spots, you should enter the harbor. Contact the harbor master and ask if there are any available spots in the rented fixed berths if there are no available guest berths.
Mooring: Mooring alongside or in a box. Floating dock.

Approach and Maritime Conditions: Easy approach from the west-northwest. Be aware of the shallows to the south at the entrance, but they are well marked with a pole and a buoy (north mark). Depths 15-8 meters.
Mooring: There is a small guest dock at NĂŠrsnes for smaller boats, but it's great to anchor in the bay. Suitable for all southerly and westerly winds. Good holding.
The Area: NĂŠrsnes is a cozy harbor. There is only a Joker store here if you need to shop. Promhavn Slipp A/S is located here if you need assistance. The slip is also suitable for larger boats, including wooden boats.

Approach and maritime conditions: Outside of SĂŠtre, west of HĂ„Ăžya.
Pay special attention to the pipelines lying on the bottom in the puddle. Check the nautical chart carefully before you drop anchor
Anchoring: 10 meters
The Area: Vestfjorden's harbor gem is what SĂŠtre Boat Association calls its home harbor with approximately 400 boat spaces. In the marina, you will find guest spots, water, shower, kiosk, restaurant, and fuel. New from 2022: SĂŠtre Boat Association has now implemented the Mooringo app. This means that all of our guest spots, including members' own spots that are available when not in personal use, can be booked by guests in the Mooringo app. Available boat spaces are shown in the app and can be booked and reserved in advance.
It is also a short distance to SĂŠtre guest harbor (operated by Asker Municipality) where there are several alongside berths. A popular harbor that is often full on weekends, making it difficult to find a space. Only one boat per width is allowed, so if it's full, it's full. There is an opportunity to dispose of garbage, and a new sanitary building in 2022 with a toilet and shower.
SĂŠtre is a great area, with lots of small shops, 2 large grocery stores (Kiwi and Coop Extra), Vinmonopol (liquor store), hairdressers, etc. Feel free to check https://www.facebook.com/SaetreSentrumsforening.

Approach and maritime conditions: Just south of Grebbestad guest harbor, it's great to anchor. Good depths of about 8-9 meters, and we have never had problems with anchoring. Short distance to Grebbestad center with dinghy.
Anchoring: Use your own anchor. Depths of approximately 10 meters. Be aware that the local sailing school uses the area for training for the smallest classes. You must avoid the pipeline to the north and the power line to the south. The power line is not marked on the chart, but look for signs on land on both sides of the strait.
The area: Short distance to Grebbestad center with cozy shops, and there is a Systembolag here as well. Nice fish shop near the harbor.

Approach and maritime conditions: Lilla Havstensbukten is a fantastic little place, with particularly good protection from western winds. Holmudden is a fairly high knoll/rock providing good protection.
Anchoring: It is quite shallow here (about 1.5-2.5 meters), but the bottom is loose mud, so if you have a sailboat with a draft of about 2 meters, you can still pull yourself to shore. There are mooring points in several places on land.
The Area: Very sheltered and nice inside Alevik bay, with many good places to swim.

Very good holding here, even a bit out in the bay. When we retrieved the anchor, there was a lot of clay on both the chain and anchor, and that's always a good sign.

Unproblematic entry. There are some skerries, but well-marked entry. There are many shallows in the southern part of the area, but just check the chart carefully. Good holding for the anchor in the mud bottom. The terrain around is quite low, so it doesn't provide much wind protection, but the area has good shelter from waves.

A little north of where this natural harbour is marked on the chart, it is also suitable for anchoring. The chart shows Flata and Husebukta, marked with an anchoring symbol. It is actually a fairly large area with room for many boats. We got a good hold in the clay bottom.

Really a large and spacious natural harbour. We got a good hold here. Some boat traffic/boating activity from what I think are people from the campsite just east of the 'lagoon'. But not bothersome. We have a rather large boat, so anchored at a depth of 12-14 meters.

Straightforward entrance to the area. Good anchoring conditions in clay, we got a good hold right away. Possibility to moor both on Grötö and on LÀnsholmen, providing good protection from various wind directions. The downside is that there is some passing boat traffic that creates a few waves. Use plenty of fenders against the rocks.

Approach and maritime conditions: Good in all conditions, but north wind makes anchoring in the eastern part of the harbor less ideal. Note that the bottom is loose (mud bottom), so deploy extra chain if it's going to be windy.
Anchoring: Anchoring depth 10m
The area: Oslofjord's most popular outport

The bay provides a good anchorage. The approach has some foul waters, so check the charts carefully.

We anchored a little farther east (about 400 m) than where the mark for this natural harbor is on the chart, it is called RörbÀcke bay. Very good holding for the anchor in clay there, and plenty of room for those of us with a slightly larger boat (58 feet, 5 m wide, around 50 tons)

We have not personally anchored in this bay, but locals we have spoken to say that there are a lot of rocks on the bottom here, so it can be difficult to get a good hold. Therefore, it's wise to check this before settling down here.
