The approach is spectacular. It is best to announce your arrival via radio in French.
Visiting boats in the inner harbor often receive assistance from a dockhand. Mooring lines attached to the floating pontoons must be used.
Alternatively, if you moor at the pier just inside the entrance-shortly after the ferry terminal-the walk to the sanitary facilities is long, the disturbance from passengers is relatively brief, and the mooring fee is slightly lower. Note: the mooring lines here are very thick!
The walk up to the citadel, through the narrow streets, and to the old fortress, the cemetery, and along the cliffs-among other things-is a must.
There is a wide selection of restaurants.

Floating pontoons with mooring lines. Spaces between berths are sometimes tight.
It gets crowded at the fuel dock when the charter fleets return on Fridays.
The small shop is a bit pricey but has a good selection.
A market selling local produce takes place on Fridays until 2:00 PM, right across the street from the marina.
Several lovely spots in the town. A wide choice of restaurants.

"George" takes charge: when it gets busy, he directs yachts into the harbor one by one and assigns them berths. It often gets very crowded-sometimes with up to three rows of boats anchored stern-to (Mediterranean style) one behind the other, or with the harbor entrance partially blocked. George uses his own boat to provide resourceful assistance with docking and dropping anchor.
There are only a few shower facilities on the shore side of the harbor, where the trash containers are also located. There are no other significant amenities or services nearby.
There is no charge for mooring, and no obligation to dine at the restaurant.

At the restaurant jetty, there are berths alongside and-in principle-only one berth for bow-to mooring (using a bow anchor). There is also one bow-to berth next to the small ferry landing.
The holding ground was okay, provided plenty of anchor chain was used.

Attention: The three red mooring buoys belong to the restaurant La Casitta.
If you unknowingly moor there, at some point a boat will come and demand a somewhat exorbitant price for mooring.
The other yellow buoys are free if you have the Maddalena permit.

La Casitta - as you can read in various places - has no menu, and you have to reckon with a minimum consumption of €250. It is entertaining to read the reviews on relevant review portals - and to drink a glass of red wine on board while doing so ;-)

In late autumn, we had no disturbance from water taxis or banana boats. The beach was almost empty. Apparently, it's very different during the season.
Note: What looks like sand is often a rock slab over which the anchor slips.
But worse: at least at 39° 08.856' N 23° 24.228'E there is a crack in it. My chain lay lengthwise in it. We were able to free it under visual control by zig-zag driving and carefully lifting the anchor before nightfall. There was still enough chain for a safe night outside.
The beach bar had hardly anything left in early October, and a week later, it was closed.

Attention: parallel to the city pier, 35 meters distance as recorded in harbor guides (foul) an old mooring chain. If the anchor initially slips, be cautious and preferable to retrieve and re-set, otherwise a diver may be necessary.
It can make sense to use a tripline.

Good holding ground for Roman-Catholic mooring. Approx. 6 to 7 m depth, plenty of room for lots of chain. We had up to a good 35kn wind from SSW. Current map available from the kiosk.
Very beautiful place. It’s worth walking through the alleys.

Fairly steep anchoring ground. Anchor only with a shore line. Be cautious of the wind pressure from the north pushing sideways on the boat.
With the dinghy, you can easily reach the pebble beach and the restaurants.
