We tried to anchor here. Lots of seaweed and poor holding. Therefore, we chose to move on.

The anchorage looks fine. We approached from the north. Anchoring at about 14 meters. There is also a 'public pier' by the Ferry Quay. The depth here is about 2.5 meters at low tide.

This is not a guest harbor, only private berths are available here.
We spoke with a local. He mentioned that there used to be a guest dock there which was damaged by the weather. A lot of swell. The bottom has been dredged so he thought it was okay for anchoring.
There is also a concrete quay on the breakwater where mooring is possible.

Good anchorage. We hit shell sand and the Rocna anchor had good holding, depth 4 to 6 meters. Beautiful island with good hiking opportunities.

OK for anchoring in good weather, depth about 10 meters. The chart indicates S (sand), but there was much seaweed on the anchor.

Cozy, centrally located, well-managed marina. Nice place to stay for longer periods in New Zealand.
Whangarai is located at the innermost part of a fjord. The area is safe with little crime.
Good hiking opportunities in the vicinity.

Nearest store is Lunde Bunnpris, approximately 600 meters.

Simple approach, but be aware of the overhead cables in the area. These are well marked on the chart.
We anchored at about 15 meters. Got a hold relatively quickly.
From the beach in Hestviken, there is a hiking trail to Rødøyløva.
