In the bay at Karlsholmen, it can be difficult to get a good anchor hold for a swinging mooring. Several experienced this when we were there. This is due to seaweed on the bottom.

Here you have options for both a guest harbor and anchoring. We anchor safely in this bay. The entrance looks daunting, with shallow areas close by, but it is very well marked. (The anchoring spots are further west in the bay than marked on the picture of the piers).

We were here on one of the absolute best days of the summer and there were many boats on both sides of the strait between Stora and Lilla Vasholmen. Some were moored alongside, others with a stern anchor. It was a bit tricky for several to get the anchor to hold in the strait. There is a risk of hooking other anchors, but on such a calm day these instances resolved easily. Beautiful area, great views both towards the mainland and towards Skagerrak. Recommended in good weather.
