A nice area around the bay with marked trails and hiking destinations. There is also a small grocery store.

... but the dock facilities are still worn and uneven with old, undersized electrical installations and no water readily available on the dock. Gasoline can be self-served with a long hose down to the quay, but no diesel (!). Diesel filling only with a bulk hose at a high quay after ordering by phone.

A very good harbor, easy approach, dock with good depth and good mooring options, well-functioning water and power setups, and just a few hundred meters to a 24-hour self-service store. Great hiking opportunities as well, around or up on Salen, or all the way up to the peaks.

... and all at a good price, NOK 50-100 below other similar harbors around Vestfjorden.

Our afternoon trip inward through the fjord was nice. Many waterfalls you can sail close to, and then the climax with the 'Seven Sisters' and the 'The Suitor' right before Geirander.

Fill the diesel tank before entering! Running the engine is a necessity to arrive in reasonable time, and there are no refueling opportunities for sailboats within Ikornnes.

Smart to be (mentally) prepared for a lot of tourism, i.e., towering cruise ships, lots of RVs, helicopters, and few Norwegian-speaking locals.

A great place. A new concrete pier will be in place by July 2024. It's a bit unclear to what extent guests can use it. A phone call to the guesthouse might be a good idea.

... and strong north winds may make a stay less pleasant. A breeze is okay.

Easy approach from the south and westward around the island. 4-5m depth in the strait south of the island.

Good opportunities to moor bow to rock and anchor astern.

Got good holding while swinging at anchor and stayed overnight with wind gusts up to fresh breeze, small gale.

A nice island for a small stroll.

Watch out for eelgrass in the shallows. My dinghy propeller got full.

Simple and safe approach from the southeast between Vardholmen and the club. It's probably possible to sail in between Lamholmen and Vardholmen as well, but I didn't take the chance with a sailboat.

Easy to anchor in the middle of the bay at a depth of 12-13m, and it's fun with many starfish on the chain.

Spacious bay with room for several at anchor. Good holding on the first anchoring attempt.

A very good alternative when the quay in Homborsund is full.

Very easy and well-marked entrance. After all, it is a ferry port.
The ferries run until midnight (maybe later too), but they are electric and generate impressively little noise and waves.
The Spar store some 100m up the road is already open at 8 AM, even on Saturdays.

The guest pier is generally solid, long, and has good depth, but as of July 2024, it is poorly maintained. The outer half is inaccessible. Watch out for the chains that run diagonally from the pier between the sections. No electricity or water.

24-hour fuel pump a bit inland with petrol and diesel (for cans), as well as diesel filling at a dedicated quay inside upon request at Kjøpsvik handel.

Short distance (~1km) to grocery stores.

A great destination by boat, and it's a 'must' to bring hiking boots and walk the 9 kilometers (and 1000 meters of elevation) up to the national border. Good trail and lots of beautiful nature.

Note that as of July 2024, only Telenor has mobile coverage here. Up in the mountains by the border, there is no coverage.

Easy approach from the north, good depths. Some foul waters in the northeast.

Brevik Sailing Association's buoy is located a bit further in, but still at good depth.

We tested the buoy at full engine power without seeing any signs of movement and had a boat moored overnight in northern weather. Brevik Sailing Association states 14 tonnes as the maximum for usage.

The surrounding area is peaceful and characterized by cabins. Two small sandy beaches are accessible for everyone southeast in the bay.

As of 2026, Moss Sailing Association uses https://havneweb.no for organizing berths in the Søly harbor. Unused slips are made available as guest spots and can be borrowed via the web service.
