Decent protection against eastward winds.
Be cautious of mud while anchoring and poor bottom conditions. Often, you may find better anchoring spots further out to the sides from the fjord bottom - especially if there is a glacier river.

It is better protected here than one would think, both from wind and waves. One of the better harbors in the area, with relatively good space. The bay is often used as a stopover for cruise ships en route from Longyearbyen.
