One of the best harbors between Bud and Stad!
Fairly new facility, it is mentioned 'stalls', but there are none. You can moor alongside, but when it is busy, you need to back in towards the floating dock. On the outside, anchor buoys have been laid out, where you can moor the bow - intended for larger vessels, and the stern moors on the floating dock. Here are all facilities within the hotel's and pub's area: Shower, toilet, washing machine (no dryer yet), food and drinks are available at the hotel and the pub. You get the code for shower/toilet when you pay with the GoMarina app.
Nice area with lots of nature. The second weekend in August, there is a fun 'play' right up the street: The King Arthur Play, which is well worth seeing! Otherwise, there is starting to be a lot of activity here, after the hotel reopened in Easter 2022.
There is petrol and diesel at the COOP store.

Great area, easy access. The only negative is that the waters north of the floating docks, of which there are two, are completely open. Nothing to shield from weather and wind, or passing boats. If the Stad Ship Tunnel is realized, much of the rock mass will be used to create a breakwater, which will among other things protect this harbor. All facilities at the hotel for boaters. Shop and pub in the area. Nice hiking areas, decent but somewhat long bike ride to, for example, Vestkapp. Otherwise, you can visit the wind farm from Borgundvågen, or continue past Borgundvågen all the way to the end of the road on the north side of Stad, Eltvika. The Germans were strongly represented here during World War II, and much from that time is still visible. A trip to Tungevågen for swimming is also a good idea.

July 2024 was the first time we docked at Veøya. It is best to moor on the inside, west side, of the floating pier, due to the route boat coming and going sporadically. For large boats, there are mooring buoys available, so they can stern-tie to the floating pier. There are toilets, a whole 2 of them, in the barn, up by the church. Entrance under the bridge. No electricity or water. Fantastic place! Note: a lot of ticks on the island, so long trousers are recommended, feel free to tuck your socks over your trouser legs.
In 2024, it didn’t cost anything to stay here.

Thon Hotel Ålesund has a floating dock with 4 guest berths, in a slip. It costs 250 NOK per day, and breakfast at the hotel costs 275 per person, which is quite expensive. Other hotels in the area charge 100 NOK per person for breakfast if they use the hotel's guest jetty. Great location, here you get the first rays of the sun in the morning, and you also get the last ones in the evening - when the boats in Brosundet are in the shade :-) There is a sauna attached to this harbor. Short distance to everything, but one must walk around Brosundet and over Hellebroa to reach the city center.

Sunnmøre Outdoor Council has placed floating piers in several locations in the area. There are no less than two facilities on this island, this one and one on the southwest side as well. There are toilets on land by both piers. Great hiking opportunities and accommodation in tents, or hammocks - you must bring these yourself. There are free-roaming animals on the island, mainly sheep.

There are several mooring buoys in the bay to the north on Raudøya. It is too shallow for sailboats/keelboats to dock at the quay. Only short stays at high tide are possible. Otherwise, it is a kayak/dinghy that is required for these. There are some mooring buoys around the quay as well, and the mooring lines extend 'in every direction' from the dock, so stop the engine and coast towards the dock, unless you get a spot at the outermost part. Great facilities on land.

Great, city-near recreational area. There are boats daily, and often there are overnight stays in the harbor. Exposed to waves from passing boats, especially from those coming from the east. The horseshoe on the north side is reserved for members of the Sailing Association. Guests are directed to the floating dock towards the south.

Diesel from the floating dock just north of the ferry dock on the inside of the breakwater. Beautiful sandy beach right by the guest pier - at the start of the breakwater.

Only the two northernmost floating docks are designated for guests, and you must moor at the end of these (longside). Today (July 11, 2024), they were installing a code lock for the docks. Once this is up and running, which will be soon, visitors will receive a code for the doors via the Go Marina app.
It is also planned to install a code lock on the clubhouse, so guests can access the facilities there. At the time of writing, you must contact someone in the club (phone number on the clubhouse door), and you will be given a physical key.
Great area with a good 'pizza restaurant' serving good food. There is also a bakery, both just a stone's throw from the harbor facilities, where you can get delicious homemade bread and baked goods of all kinds. The latter is also a cozy café.
The sandy beach by the clubhouse is simply stunning!

Cap Clara has a limited number of guest spots. A member of the board must be contacted before use. Email: post@capclara.no, see also www.capclara.no for information. The harbor is nicely situated near Kringstadbukta, which is a popular and idyllic bathing spot with a sandy beach, smooth rocks, swimming raft, toilet, and good parking facilities. Kringstadbukta is located about 4 kilometers west of Molde center. Quiet and tranquil area, about 3 kilometers west of Molde center. A good alternative to the party scene at, for example, Reknes, in connection with the Jazz Festival.

Relatively straightforward entrance, follows a well-marked channel. Often there are sheep or goats placed on the island to maintain the landscape. There are outhouses and barbecue areas on the island. The outdoor council maintains the facilities and oversees the island, including the floating docks, of which there are 2. The only negative is that the express boat, between Ålesund and Langevågen, passes at regular intervals and creates some waves.

Sunnmøre Outdoor Council places a floating dock here in the spring, and it is occasionally taken ashore in the winter. The Mauren recreational area is designated as an official naturist area, so on warm days, do not be surprised if there are naked bodies walking around or lying on the rocks here. By the car parking area, there is a small service house that contains a public toilet. There are no other facilities associated with the floating dock. Easy access from the north via Taftasundet if your mast is not too high, otherwise, you must enter Ellingsøyfjorden from Ålesund.

There is a floating pier at the innermost part of the harbor, NE, by the clubhouse. There are some shoals within the breakwater and the entrance, these are marked. It is also somewhat shallow inside the harbor itself. Have not seen sailboats in here. The old ferry dock, from when there were ferries to Ålesund, is maintained by the small boat association, and keelboats can dock there. Nice and calm harbor with access to sun all year round, as long as the sky is clear, and it peeks over the horizon. The toilet is located by the church, outside the walls, NW of the harbor. Children and adults swim within the breakwater, warm water and a beautiful sandy beach. Giske Church is worth a visit; in recent years it has been open on Thursdays and is part of the churches along the pilgrimage route, by sea and by land. NW on the island is the Makkvika Nature Reserve, which is suitable for an excursion. In July, you can experience the Giskespelet, which takes place in an outdoor amphitheater, a stone's throw from the harbor, to the west. Alternatively, Ocean Sound Records is on the north side of the island, near Makkvika. There is also an annual music festival here, in the area just north of the bridge. There are no shops on the island; the nearest is on Valderøya, where you can walk/cycle over the bridge.

The approach is relatively uncomplicated for a flat-bottomed boat, but note that for keelboats it is somewhat more challenging due to some reefs and shallow areas around the entrance which can be challenging. Well-protected breakwater harbor, short distance to Leikong and Stad Hotel. Mooring in the northwest part of the harbor, floating dock.

The guest pier is located at the far east of the harbor, floating pier, by the ramp for launching. You must stay north of all the protrusions along the way. Short distance to mountains, and shops in the area. NB: There are notices along the quay that the tidal inflow is especially shallow at low tide. Easy sailing towards Langevåg and the Devold Factory. Here are two separate guest harbors; 100 meters to the north is the entrance to Stadsnesharbor. Instead of going north of the pier, aim more towards the large yellow building with a tall chimney, towards SE. Tight passage, but enough space to turn the boat inside the harbor basin. There is a private floating dock on the west side, here you must obtain permission to stay. Otherwise, you can dock along the land towards N and E in the 'horseshoe'. No fees. Toilet and café in the Devold Factory, as well as several outlets, including sportswear. Due to the relatively large difference between high and low tide, it is advisable to have slack mooring lines, as there are no floating docks at the guest spots. In Devold harbor lies one of Norway's oldest steamships: THOROLF.

NB: The mooring buoy belonging to KNBF went out of service in the winter of 2023. It is unlikely to be replaced in the near future. Now anchoring is required, preferably with a line to shore for the largest boats.

It is likely BRÆNDHOLMEN as it should be, it is located just north of Brattholmen. Brændholmen is a popular spot, especially for paddlers, as there is a concrete pier, a couple of meters above sea level, but remnants of a proper staircase up to it. It is therefore easy to carry all the equipment up, I assume. I haven't been ashore there myself, but I pass by several times a year with the boat. From time to time, there are sailboats/Colin Archers, alongside this concrete pier, but usually there are boats with anchors out, and line towards the land. The pier is located on the southeastern part of the island - easily visible on satellite images. Exposed to weather and wind from north to east.

Sunnmøre Outdoor Recreation Council has placed floating docks in several locations in the area. There are no less than two facilities on this island, this one and another on the southwest side. There are toilets on land, at both docks. Great hiking opportunities and overnight stays in tents or hammocks - you need to bring these yourself. There are free-roaming animals on the island, mainly sheep.

There was a mooring buoy here until 2022. We often used it for overnight stays. Now you must use your own anchor. There is some current in the area, so two anchors, or an anchor and a line ashore, are preferable.

It is KNBF that has set out the buoy, and unfortunately, these no longer receive any follow-up, so you must keep a close watch yourself! This lagoon on the south side of Langøya is known as 'Lille Mallorca'. Beautiful area, there are both sailboats and motorboats inside the lagoon. Several people anchor to the northeast with an anchor out and a line to the shore. Plenty of blueberries on the island.

Mørkesetholmane is a popular overnight spot for sailboats and others who enjoy anchoring. There are, of course, no facilities here, but what a beautiful area!

Throughout this bay on the southwest side of Storholmen, it is great to anchor. There are several options to moor to the shore, with the anchor out. Easy to get ashore.

Relatively new floating dock. Moor alongside the quay, on the outermost floating dock (concrete). Smaller vessels can probably borrow berths for permanent residents, but by request.

Must keep a straight tongue to navigate all the way into this lagoon. The seabed is good sand, but there is also a lot of seaweed and kelp on the bottom, so one can be unlucky with anchor placement. Although this seemingly is a safe place, it can become somewhat choppy in here when the southwest wind blows. Not much room for maneuver if you need to get out when it starts blowing. But what a spot!! Not a bad idea to run a line ashore if staying overnight. From the south: Head north towards Kjeldsund leirskole. By the bridge, head directly east towards Hestholmen. Here, there is a narrow passage into a relatively large basin. Then veer northeast and take an 18-degree turn towards the south and enter the lagoon north of Bakarholmen. On a couple of occasions, during high tide, I have navigated between the islets that protect the large lagoon. Slow speed is required, and preferably with someone keeping watch at the bow. A bow thruster and depth sounder are very helpful here.

To get here, you must approach from the north. It is deep, more than 5 meters all the way to the floating pier, but there are two reefs, one marked at 1.3 meters and an unmarked shoal at 1.8 meters in the last narrow strait where you have to turn towards the floating pier. Right at the beginning, there is a cable you must pass under, with a clearance height of 18 meters.

Whether you are coming from Rovdefjorden from the south, or the route from the north, there are several islets and reefs along the way. From the south, there is a bridge and cables you need to pass under at Dragsund, with a clearance height of 20 meters, according to the chart. Good sandy bottom.

Easy approach. There are some shallows around the breakwater, and especially within it. Keel boats should dock on the NE side of the floating dock, where there is a depth of 3-4 meters. On the SW side, it is somewhat shallow, 1-2 meters.

Here you can go with your own boat, or join a scheduled boat from Thon Hotel Fosnavåg. From Fosnavåg it is 'straight ahead,' without obstacles. From time to time, larger boats come here for sightseeing, where guests go ashore to have a better meal, so it is not certain that you will get a place.

A relatively new facility was completed in the spring of 2023. The floating dock here was anchored in the bay northeast of the island before it was moved here and made landfast. This is the former guest dock in Ørsta, which has been given new life out here in the fjord.
It is relatively deep, so I assume that sailboats can also moor here; otherwise, they must use the anchorage north in the bay or the mooring buoys that have been laid out.
There is a holly reserve on Raudøya (often spelled Raudøyna on maps), which is the largest concentration of holly in Møre og Romsdal, and the only one of its kind north of what used to be Hordaland.
There are also several burial mounds on Raudøya, which are also protected. These are from the Bronze and Iron Ages. The largest mound has a diameter of 14 meters and rises one meter above the ground.

With west or north wind and sea, it can be somewhat challenging to enter the breakwater and make a hard port turn where the guest dock is. The entire dock along the breakwater north in the harbor, as well as the neighboring finger pier, leads into the berths towards land. A great harbor facility with very good amenities. A short distance to the town center, as well as up to the mountain north of the center. Beautiful view at well over 500 meters above sea level, following a road and a gravel path up to the summer farms.

Not the center of the world, you need to bring 'everything' as there is nothing to buy. These days (2024) there is a free ferry to Aukra (Gossen), Ona, and Finnøy. So you can stay here and enjoy yourself, and visit other places around from the bicycle seat. Beautiful nature, secluded. There is access to electricity here, I haven't checked for water, but since there are fishing boats at a neighboring dock, I would assume that it can be arranged for water too, if needed.

On the west side of Sandøy, there are two areas for guests. There is the large new floating dock inside the breakwater, as well as the one in the cove, on the east side inside the breakwater. The 3 outermost berths, the westernmost ones, are reserved for guests. It's also possible to berth in the 'horseshoe', but permission must be obtained. Phone/contact on the quay. Since the new floating dock was installed, it is mostly smaller motorboats, on day visits, that use this part of the harbour.

Large and excellent harbour, with activities for the whole family ashore. Floating piers along the breakwater, to port when you enter the 'usual way', from the west. Another approach is from the south, through Kippersundet, which can be exciting but has decent depth. People look in amazement at those who come in from the south! It is 1.2 meters if you sail centrally according to the chart. A couple of shops and a bakery just a stone's throw from the harbour, and don't miss the restaurant at the end of the breakwater: Bryggjen i Bud!

NB: The floating docks in these pictures have been moved southeast, and are now connected to land on Raudøya. This was done in the spring of 2023. See the description about RAUDØYA, which addresses this change. The floating dock was the old guest dock in Ørsta, which now has a new life out here in the fjord.

Here it states, May 2024, that there are 30 meters of guest berths with the possibility of electricity and water. Haven't been here yet. The first weekend in June, annually, the 'Stettevik Festival' kicks off. In 2024, the following will be on stage: Kurt Nilsen, Ingeborg Walther, and Fråspark. The tickets are sold out, but I assume the sound will be good in this harbor!
