Entrance and maritime conditions: Simple entrance from the north. Clear waters down to the blue buoy - but watch out for the 0.7-meter depth southwest of it. Mostly bolted into the rock where there is depth towards the land. When the wind blows from the southwest, you can find protection on the north side of the eastern flat reef where there are also good bolts in the rock, but be aware of the current which can sometimes be quite strong here.
Anchoring: Blue buoy from Oslofjordens Friluftsråd at the southernmost point in the strait. Mainly mooring to bolts in the rock but also some dock spaces. Mostly stern anchor and bow towards land are used, but there are a couple of suitable alongside berths.
The area: Popular place for both overnight stays and day trips. Nice little island to explore. Trash cans and camping tables by the dock at the eastern flat reef.

Great and peaceful alternative to the narrow and noisy Smögen quay. 20 min. walk to Smögen - or take the "Zita boats" which run every half hour - but you have to call to get them to stop at Hasselösund.

Good facilities with toilet, shower, barbecue area etc.

NB! Dockspot harbor :-( Very expensive (payment per square meter) and unclear which spots can be pre-booked or not. Look for signs that do NOT say "reserved" (often taped over) to be able to stay as long as you want.

10 min. to a good ICA store and there is a "ship's chandler" along the road to Smögen that has the essentials in boat equipment.

Approach and maritime conditions: Outside Fredrikstad city center, easy access for most boats.
Mooring: New floating docks, restaurant, and fuel filling.
The area: Very good (but quite expensive) restaurant here: https://stpetersrestaurant.no/
Table booking recommended.
The outside of the floating dock to the right in the overview image is a guest dock for the restaurant. Here you can stay overnight after a fine dinner!

Entrance and maritime conditions: Easy entrance from the north to a small strait that is well protected from easterly to southerly winds. Good anchoring depths fairly close to the shore, but some buoys and floating docks are somewhat in the way.
Nice harbor for an overnight stay - but maybe not one to seek out.
Anchorage: 5-9m anchoring depths.
Area: Some cottage development towards the strait - but relatively quiet and calm.
Dinghy distance to Lervik Marina / Skjeløy slip.

Approach and maritime conditions: Narrow approach from Strömstad - keep an eye on the chart to avoid shallows and rocks!!

Anchoring: Bolts on Edholmen for shore mooring with a stern anchor.
SXK buoy outside.
Swinging space but not optimal bottom conditions - set the anchor firmly.

Approach and maritime conditions: Easy approach with a marker on a skerry - you can pass on either side. A depth of 2.8m after the marker bothers very few.
Mooring: Floating docks in several groups:

Innermost, a large and curved one.

Further out, three parallel ones. Berths for smaller boats on the inside of one - otherwise longside.

NB. The two outermost floating docks only have power and water at the quayside (not on the floating docks). There is a looong hose - but it doesn't reach the outermost berth if the water filling is not towards the dock.
The area: Tvedestrand is a beautiful small town with some good restaurants and many antiquarian bookstores. It's nice to stroll through the old white-painted wooden buildings.

The nearest grocery store is Joker, located up the hill to the “new town center.” It's quite a distance to carry things - so feel free to bring a backpack or similar.
The bakery by the harbor has fresh bread in the morning.

The service building with WC, shower, and laundry is poorly marked - in the red house south of the Tvedestrand hotel.

Approach and maritime conditions: In the center of the town
Docking: Mainly longside mooring - maximum two abreast. One remaining buoy requires nearly 50m of line - but is therefore somewhat more often available.

The harbor uses the GoMarin app and requires registration/payment within one hour of arrival.
The area: Idyllic white-painted southern town - but expect a lot of people in the season.

Entrance and maritime conditions: Entrance from the south, impure waters. Mark painted on the rock inside the harbor should be kept close to the rock wall below the lighthouse. Watch out for the shallow reef (Mureren) in the middle of the entrance southeast of the lighthouse. There is also a 1-meter depth outside the steep rock wall below the lighthouse. It is difficult/risky to enter in strong southern winds and seas.
Anchoring: Smaller boats (<30 feet) can stay anchored against the wooden dock on the west side of the harbor. Holding ground is a bit poor in some places. Larger boats stay alongside the steep rock cliff on the east side of the harbor. Bolts in the rock and climbing ropes up to the bolts. Shallow at the innermost part of the harbor, but boats with a draft under 1m can moor with anchor against the rock in the north part of the harbor. Bolts in the rock and a grilling area a bit up the rock. Good anchorage.
Nice small sandy beach (Nordstranda) on the north side of the island. Good swimming area for children. Also a beach and grassy area east of Nordstranda, but with a muddier bottom. Good for camping on the grassy area.
Update July 2021:
There was a Bavaria 39-footer on the wooden dock at the innermost part which had measured a 2.5m depth. This was at low tide. Have someone on the bow, and 40-footers will manage there. Surprisingly many places around in the lighthouse harbor both alongside at the innermost part and with stern anchor at the outer part.
The area: Svenner is an old pilot harbor and there are old ruins from people who lived here in earlier times. Svenner lighthouse station is a coastal route lighthouse managed by the coastal associations in Stavern and Sandefjord.

Entrance and maritime conditions: Narrow, winding, and obstructed entrance!

First, entering the outer creek: Choose the left passage in the channel and keep to the centerline where it is narrow. Have someone in the bow as a lookout, watching both in the water and for oncoming traffic. You do not want to meet anyone in this channel!

As you enter the outer creek, keep slightly starboard to avoid the 1.8-meter depth on the port side.

Then it gets really narrow entering the inner creek: Study charts and plotters carefully and follow the leading line in the right passage along Kjeholmen. There are reefs on both sides, but the most dangerous ones are on the starboard side. It is important to approach from the correct direction and from a distance. Again, have a lookout in the bow! For the upper half of the inlet, keep to the centerline.
Anchoring: Mooring against the rocks in the north, with generally good depths and some bolts. There is evening sun here.

The pier to the south is nice to stay at - but it is the shaded side.

Also good swinging spots in the middle of the inner creek - but be aware of rocks and reefs on the chart.

The area: Idyllic small creek that is well-visited but rarely overly crowded. Easy to go ashore if you moor - and nice spots for barbecuing, etc.

Within dinghy distance to Valle for shopping, etc.

Garbage containers on a raft where the entrance from the outer to the inner creek begins. Otherwise, no facilities.

Approach and maritime conditions: Approach from the west! The strait to the south is both shallow and covered by an aerial span.
Anchorage: Large natural harbor with both dock spaces with buoys behind, natural harbor anchorage with grapnel, and a couple of swinging anchor spots in the middle.

All the developed docks on Furøya have a small harbor fee. 100 NOK in July and 50 NOK otherwise. Payment unsolicited via Vipps - they make a round in the morning to check.
The area: Great hiking trails on the island, a frisbee golf course, and an ambitious summer restaurant on the south side.

Approach and maritime conditions: The pier with outriggers closest to the inn is open and clear.

The bay towards Hestøya should be deep enough to enter - but the depth at the pier itself is uncertain - and the buoys are only for smaller boats.

The idyllic inner bay is only for the smallest boats - due to shallow waters and overhead wires further in.
Anchoring: At the pier by the inn, boats are docked in double slips with outriggers. Maximum size approximately 40 feet if the neighbor is slightly smaller.

At the pier towards Hestøya, you moor with a buoy aft. Doubtful if there's room for sailboats here.

All the developed piers on Furøya have a small harbor fee. 100 NOK in July and 50 NOK otherwise. Payment is voluntary via Vipps - they do a round in the morning to check.
The area: The inn on Furøya serves food with aspirations slightly above a typical coastal tavern. It also costs a bit more. Making a reservation is a good tip.

From the pier with outriggers, you walk directly to the inn. From the pier on Hestøya, you take a nice walk around the island to get there.

Easy approach according to the nautical chart - but watch out for the shoal outside the first islet on the west side and the 1.5 meters depth a bit south of the islets innermost in the bay.

Generally, there is good depth towards the shore (calculated from the 2m contour) where bolts are placed. Where there are no bolts, one must be cautious with a sailboat.

Fantastic picturesque little summer idyll of a village and guest harbor! Here, the houses are close together and people say hello in the narrow "streets". If you have SEK or Swish, perhaps you can buy ice cream at the kiosk.

Larger boats (>38 feet) are best moored to the east (to the left of the entrance) where you moor against the dock with your own anchor at the rear. On the other side, there are buoys suitable for slightly smaller boats - and directly to the right of the breakwater, there are "lazy-lines". Places with poles are permanent - but some of them have red/green signs. So, if the sign is green, it's OK to dock here as well.

Moderate harbor fees are collected via Swish or by card/cash during the evening rounds.

Easy approach from the west according to the nautical chart.

Large open bay with mooring bolts in the rock and depth suitable for sailboats on the north side. On the south side, there are also bolts - but it is shallow there - so they are reserved for motorboats. On the south side, there is also an outhouse, garbage collection, and a beautiful sandy beach(!).

Three SXK mooring buoys and plenty of anchoring space outside of them.

Well protected from most wind directions - but in strong westerly winds, it can be challenging here.

Easy approach from the west.

Beautiful natural harbor with many places to moor to the shore and ample swinging room for those with a lot of chain (10-15m swinging depth).

Several options for longside: As shown in the picture, there is a 'natural quay edge on Flatholmen', a small 'sub-harbor' on the right side just after the entrance with bolts on both sides, and in towards the beach if there are few people.

Popular excursion spot for the locals.

There are two guest harbors in Fjällbacka. This is a smaller, private harbor that caters to larger boats. Some of the pictures in the other harbor actually pertain to this one. They have 10 berths (several 5m wide) and 3 alongside berths on the outside. However, these are somewhat more exposed to the southwest.

Nice town quay for med mooring, very well protected from northerly winds but exposed to southerlies. More of a “town quay feeling” on this side of the small peninsula than in the more marina-like dock on the north side. The best restaurants however are to the north.
Some parts are reserved for fishing boats - but at least in late season this seems to be disregarded by all.
Harbour master comes around around 18:00 to collect the fee, while another guy (look for a man with a card in a band around his neck) will sell access to water and power from the pedestals.
The eastern part of the Harbour is closer to the restaurants and clearly noisier. Go there to party - stay to the west for a calmer night. In early season, Ermioni is haunted by flotillas. Keep your distance if possible…

Anchoring: On the eastern side of Furøya there is a dock with stern buoys for mooring. Suitable depths for sailboats for the most part - but avoid the southernmost spots.

Several good places to moor aside from the dock - but perhaps more suitable for motorboats.

There is a small harbor fee for all the developed docks on Furøya. 100 NOK in July and 50 NOK otherwise. Payment unprompted via Vipps - they make rounds in the morning to check.
The Area: Great island for hiking!

Summer restaurant with ambitions on the southern side of the island.

Dammholmen is part of the delightful Gåsö area, which is a beautiful place when the weather is OK. The island has a natural freshwater pond (hence the name) and is just high enough to provide shelter from southern winds.

The bay to the south is a bit too narrow and shallow for sailboats, although one or two with their bows in might manage.

On the east side, there are several longside opportunities with a rare combination of good protection from the southwest and a large, free, and open view! A little further north along the east side, people moor bow-in with anchor astern.

Entrance and maritime conditions: On the west side of Bjønnes lies this cozy bay with a coastal cabin and a sandy beach.
Anchoring: Motorboats should anchor in the innermost part towards the east. Sailors can find depth with the bow pointing south where there are a couple of bolts. Longside against the east is not recommended. (Rocks at about 1.9m and projections complicate.)
Longside option for sailors on the inside of the small islet in the northeast requires wedges.

Approach and maritime conditions: Clear approach from both sides of the strait.

Good room for swinging in the middle of the strait at just over 10m depth with favorable wind direction.

Pier on the north side of the strait on the Hvaløya side where sailboats will find adequate depth at the outermost spots. Watch out for the 1.5-meter shallow just north of the pier when departing.

Approach and maritime conditions: Good anchorage bottom but relatively shallow. Some waves from traffic across the fjord but otherwise a nice and sheltered overnight spot on the way in or out of the fjord. Since Bastøy is an (open) prison island, it might not be advisable to go ashore.
Anchoring: Anchoring depth 5-8m

Approach and maritime conditions: Open and clear waters but beware of the pipelines as shown on the nautical chart. Also avoid the route of the ferry which has its own pier in the west harbor.
Anchoring: Anchoring depth 7-15m.
The museum has a small pier which is mainly used for day visits by smaller boats. It is marked 'Max 25 feet.'
The area: The museum at Merdø is closed in 2021 due to COVID-19. However, the café is open during the season and serves dinner/lunch. Note that it closes after the last ferry(?) at 6 pm.
