Approach and maritime conditions: Siggjarvåg is almost impossible to see when passing by. Inside this small inlet, it is very sheltered from all winds. There are several private docks in the harbor, but only the old ferry dock is open to everyone.
Berthing: One moors at the old ferry dock. Be aware that the deck fenders here are old and may leave marks.
The area: The most common reason to visit Siggjarvåg is the desire to go on a mountain hike to Siggjo, which is the highest mountain on Bømlo. The trail to Siggjo starts just above Siggjarvåg

Approach and maritime conditions: Well-marked entrance, but several stakes to watch out for. Good depths at least along the old shop (unsure about the rest). There are a number of private quays further out in the bay that are marked private. But there is also good marking of the guest quay.
Mooring: The entire inner quay area is a guest pier (it is also marked as a guest pier by one of the boat associations in the bay). Moor longside to the wooden quay.
The area: Nice hike to Slettafjellet. Shops in the area, the harbor with its central location in relation to the new fairway is a nice alternative to Leirvik.

Approach and maritime conditions: Good depths along the floating docks. Well sheltered from most directions except if moored at the outer docks. Mandelhuset restaurant has its own guest dock
Mooring: Large floating dock facility with very good capacity
The area: Popular harbor with good capacity. Shops, liquor store (not open every day), and nice hiking opportunities.

Observe that there are 4 mooring buoys placed in the bay, so visiting boats should use these, as can be seen in the photos here. However, it is not known who operates and maintains the buoys.

Approach and maritime conditions: One of the few places in the area where it is possible to anchor. No quays or facilities on land. The commercial traffic moves at low speed in this strait, so the waves are not bothering.
Anchoring: Mooring at anchor, possibly with a line ashore.
The area: Note that due to high mountains, this side of the fjord is undersunned. Keep an eye out for seals basking on the rocks.

Approach and maritime conditions: Burøyna/Visterøy are connected and used to be a military installation. From the top of the islands, there is a beautiful view southward into Korsfjorden. The approach to the harbor on the north side of the island is well marked from both east and west. A scheduled boat passes through the sound at regular intervals.
There are several beautiful and sheltered coves to moor in on the north side of the islands. Good depth for sailboats near the pier, but it shallows quickly toward the mountain. Larger sailboats lie best at anchor or at the main pier. On the north side of the sound, there are several beautiful coves with good depths.
At the main quay, you should moor with the bow toward land (there are notices about this on the quay), and the stern with a rope on an outlaid buoy (4 pieces) so that there is room for as many boats as possible. Note that the buoys are quite far out, so you need fairly long ropes to use them.
Anchoring: Here there are several options for mooring, against a fine pier with bow mooring to fixed buoys, along a floating dock (mainly for kayaks), or against land with a stern anchor. In addition, there are excellent conditions for lying at anchor.
The Area: Beautiful barbecue spots and wooden pier, but there are neither trash bins nor outhouses here.
There are good opportunities for a walk around the islands with visits inside bunkers and military installations.
Exciting for both adults and children.

Entrance and maritime conditions: The guest harbor is located on the islet in Strusshamn. Guest docks with electricity on all sides of the island. Good depths for sailboats.
Mooring: Floating docks and fixed quays
The area: From the guest harbor, it takes a few minutes to reach the shopping center (no liquor store) for whatever you might need. In the buildings around the guest harbor, there are art studios, a pub, and concert venues (variable opening hours). Strusshamn is an old quarantine and church harbor and is one of the best harbors in the area. Here, you are well-protected in all kinds of weather.

The place is well worth an overnight stay and has a lot of charm. In addition to a well-equipped boat gear shop that also carries basic groceries, there are 2 dining places, a beautiful promenade along the strait itself, a beach, and a spectacular (and poorly marked path to) trail through a crack in the mountain, where there are also several rocks wedged above you as you walk the narrow path.
There are 2 guest docks, the northernmost belonging to GBM marina and south of the fishing boats a municipal guest dock. At both places, mooring is done alongside on the outside, and both locations have showers and toilets on land. Even though there is a lot of traffic in the strait during the day, we didn't find the waves to be a problem. It is a bit unusual that one has to pay for water (5 NOK for 80 liters).

Approach and maritime conditions: There is some boat traffic in the strait, but there is generally a requirement for slow speed.
Anchoring: Anchoring depth is 15-20m, a BOF swing buoy is laid out and can be used freely. A small quay where 3-4 boats can lie with stern anchor.
The area: Nice hiking trails on land, a "top tour" with a view. Old military fortress with a lot of history. Beautifully developed lawn area on land.

Approach and maritime conditions: Good depths and easy approach (approach to the east of the demolition area at Hanøytangen). Do not moor under the crane. It is unsettled at the outer parts of the docks in strong southern and northwestern winds, but the harbor is well sheltered.
Mooring: Guest docks are on the outside of the two southernmost piers, as well as at the wooden pier towards the land (do not moor under the crane). Alternatively, inquire about available berths. Payment by Vipps. Easy access (path) to the Kollevågen recreation area which is very child-friendly.
The area: Askøy Sailing Association's sailing sports center

Approach and maritime conditions: Sailboats cannot berth next to the wooden quay in all places. The approach to Modalen is spectacular up Mostraumen, which can be rough, and this might seem a bit daunting. However, it is well marked and has good depth in the middle of the channel.
Moorage: One moors alongside fixed wooden quays or in slots of a floating dock (alternatively alongside on the outside of this).
The area: Cozy shops, cafes, and several hiking suggestions in the area. There is a sandy beach close to the guest harbor.

Approach and maritime conditions: Easy approach, and a sheltered and good harbor. Good depths along the main quay, but varying depths along the boating association's floating docks (which are also not for guest docking).
Mooring: One moors alongside the municipal quay. It is free to dock at the quay, but if you need electricity, this is paid to the local boating association. You should expect that boats might dock on the outside of you (if you do not want this, there are many nice spots for anchoring with anchor/stern line in the area between Herdla harbor and Valen).
The area: Herdla offers many tours and activities, such as a tour of the old airport, bird life, museum, and golf course.

Approach and maritime conditions: Short walk to the center. Keep a safe distance from large cargo ships approaching the smelting plant.
Mooring: A floating dock with good depth, where you can moor on both sides. Smaller boats can also moor in available berths (ask locals in the harbor, it has active members so there is usually someone to ask) inside the harbor.
The area: Great mountain hikes in the area, especially recommended is a walk up the stairs along the pipeline. Hydro has threatened to remove the stairs. Høyanger is an old industrial town that also has charm and a couple of cozy shops and cafes.

Entrance and maritime conditions: Good depths. A lot of commercial passenger traffic of vessels in all sizes, but it becomes quiet by the evening
Mooring: Moor at the floating dock at Flåm Marina, or at designated wooden piers in the harbor facility. Possibilities to anchor outside the marina.
The area: One of Norway's most visited tourist sites

Approach and maritime conditions: The approach is straightforward. Sailboats should be aware of overhead cables inside the bay. It is stated to be 16m, but is somewhat higher along the land on the west side. Some shallow areas along some of the floating docks (located at the mouth of a river). Very sheltered harbor in terms of wind.
Mooring: Mooring is at floating docks along the general store, alternatively at the steamship quay (the store also collects fees from this).
The area: General store with dining and bicycle rentals. Beautiful hiking areas, including to Krossosvingane.

3-4 guest berths which can be found at the ends of floating docks as well as on both sides of the floating dock/wave breaker (be aware of a rope attached to the anchor? on the outside of the dock in July 22). The outside may also have a bit of choppy water. Electricity available. Payment with mobile app or envelope.

Cozy small natural harbor, sheltered from most wind directions (probably exposed to westerly winds) with built-up benches and barbecue spots on land. A small 7-8m wooden pier with mooring bolts. Unfortunately, the rock extends further out under the pier, and we did not dare to moor close to it with a sailboat.

Boat club that has established a guest pier for 3-4 boats on the outside of the wave breaker. Sailboats cannot go all the way in as it gets shallow, but there is a depth for 2 consecutive boats at the outermost part. Also a bit shallow in the entrance, but not a problem for a 2-meter keel. Electricity and water on the quay.
Cheap harbor fee (2022 - NOK 100 including electricity)
Quiet place without other facilities, about 1 km to the Spar store. Several hiking trails for all levels in the area.

Approach and maritime conditions: Easy approach to a well-sheltered natural harbor where you can anchor. There are some rocks to the Northwest in the bay that you should not anchor too close to. Best to anchor eastward toward the road where there is plenty of space.
Anchoring: Anchorage with mud bottom, 5-15m.
The area: The harbor is suitable for overnight stops, or lazy days at anchor. No special attractions in the area.

Approach and maritime conditions: Easy approach from the north, but do not go too far east where there are some shoals.
Anchoring: 5-8m

Floating docks with power and water. Benches, tables, and trash bins on the quay. Pleasant location in the center of Skånevik. If you moor at the floating dock closest to the river, it is shallow, also shallow at the eastern end of the concrete quay as a river flows out here as well. It is also possible to moor at the floating dock by the fast food stand/store west of the ferry quay, but here the ferry likely creates a lot of disturbance/noise.

The Outdoor Recreation Board has made 3 piers for use on the island. One can be seen in the aerial photo, but the other 2 are on the east side and are well sheltered (but without evening sun). On the largest quay, there is also a grill house (boathouse).

Entrance and maritime conditions: 7m Deep. Go in from southwest
Anchoring: Well protected and secluded bay centrally located in the fairway near Eivindvik and Skjerjehamn. Entry should be possible on both sides of the islet at the entrance, but the west side is easiest. There is likely room for three boats to anchor here if coordinated a bit. About 7m deep with a clay bottom. It is shallow near the shore and you won't get in there without a dinghy (or alternatively a boat small enough that you can pull it up on the beach). But for children, the shore here must be a paradise with patches of sand, lots of crabs, and a great place for swimming and wading. If the water temperature in the sea is too low, there is a freshwater swimming spot about 200m above the end of the bay (no trail, lots of underbrush, so pants and proper shoes are recommended).

Actually an idyll, with many meters of wooden piers, which still makes it possible for boaters to enjoy themselves here. But the quays are now in poor condition, and the hotel building is an unlocked ghost house, which is why I would not bring children here.

Approach and maritime conditions: Recreational area with beautiful rocky shores.
Easy approach, but there may be some shallow areas near the shore.

Anchoring: Mooring with an anchor towards the shore, in some places side-to mooring is possible. Bolts in the rock.
There is also a buoy (BOF) that can be moored to, alternatively, it is also pleasant to anchor freely in the same area.
The area: Beautiful saltwater pool a bit inland on the island. The temperature rises quickly here.

Outdoor toilet in the area.

Entrance and maritime conditions: Open area in a large bay/poll that is well shielded from most winds. Fixed bolts in the rock in several places. Simple entrance from Hjeltefjorden, in a narrow sound towards the east, boats with inboard engines are advised against going through as it is very shallow. Sailboats can go all the way into the bay. There is also a buoy from BOF in the bay.
Anchoring: Mooring with an anchor towards land, alongside in some places or swing/swing buoy. A short and high concrete quay on the southeast side of the island (east of the bay). Good holding for the anchor.
The area: Great sheltered natural harbor that is popular and frequently used. Diving board and a small gravel beach. Beautiful area up towards the rock wall at the innermost part of the bay. It is possible to walk on the island, but the quality of the trails varies.

Approach and maritime conditions: Central location in the middle of the lane. The approach is unmarked, but if one watches the chart (or has a lookout on the bow), it is easy to navigate in.
Mooring: There are two docks for smaller boats. Larger boats lie at anchor or with a shore anchor. 7-15m, muddy bottom
The area: Nicely developed recreation area on land

Approach and maritime conditions: The approach has a number of shallow areas and reefs, and one must be vigilant (but it's manageable). A fine and sheltered natural harbour developed by BOF.
