The harbour shape is a big surprising as it consists of a T shape ferry like quay and a long wooden pontoon. It does not look like a Gästhamn and has no sign or flag visible from a distance. Once on the pontoon you will find the booking QR-Code.
You moor along side either on one of the 2 free sides of the T or on either side of the long wooden pontoon. Depth is >3m.
The T quay was made for larger working boats and is high (1.1m) and not very friendly to yacht fenders. The wooden pontoon is more classic.
The you will find water and electricity at the pontoon (a long cable might be required depending where you moor).
Facilities include 1 hot shower, 1 toilet, 1 washing up point and 1 Sauna (to be booked as extra).
A grocery shop is available 700m up the road.

The harbour is located in an old fishing village. From that period remains one converted old fishing ship and a lot of wooden boat houses.
The shop out of season (mid June 2025) is only accessible via Switch payment (even to access) but the owner being the same as in the Delly Restaurant, you can see with her to get access and pay by credit card.
The showers and the Sauna are also paid by Swish mobile pay. The shower provides hot water even without Swish payment. The washing machine runs with coins. If the Campsite is open you can access to more services (pay by credit card).
For high draft boats note that there are 2 rocks at 2.3m in the fairway. Stick close to the green buoy if your draft is over 2m.
The electric connexion are not using the European Standard outdoor sockets but simple standard in house 240V sockets. You need an adaptor. Water is available and pipes are provided.
If you rather anchor, or that the Gästhamn is full, you can also anchor in the North part of the bay. Due to the very shallow connection to the harbour, you must enter that part of the bay from the north/west and then use a tender in the passage connecting the north side where sits the village.

Gunnsvick-viken bay is a very shelter bay perfect for mooring in any wind condition.
Note: Locals call it "Herrestaviken" which is the name of the Laguna west of Gunnsvick-viken even if the Laguna cannot be reached by boot.
There is plenty of room in a depth that is always over 3.5m.
Most boats moor with anchor but some prefer to tie to land with aft anchor. Only two small sections of the bay are suitable for that type mooring.
It remains deep even very lose to the land.
The shelter offered by the bay is excellent with no waves at all and little wind, most of it being damped by the high tree around.
The down side is that it's a popular place and you are unlikely going to be alone.

Extremely friendly.
Groceries shops at 2km. Bike rental is available.

You have 2 mooring guest zones, the most protected on the North side is shallower.
You moor with aft buoys on pontoon.

Note: the bridge south from Replot offers only 24m clearance.

Access from the sea and from land to Mariefred is easy.
From the sea there is no hidden surprise, the fairway is clear and the depth very comfortable,
3.5m in the approach, 2,8m at the mooring buoys, 2,1 at the quay.
Bottom is soft clay, so real depth is bit more in reality.

Mariefred marina is well equipped and provides all the facilities that you may expect.
The price range is a bit higher than usual but Mariefred being such a tourist attraction that is not a surprise.
You pay by the beam of your boat. Electricity is extra but washing machine and drier are included.
The agreement made between other marinas in the areas allows to get the 5th night for free.
(Västerås, trängnäs, Enköping, Mariefred, Sundbyholm).

Mariefred small town is charming and offers plenty of selection in restaurant, activities for children and cultural visits.

The marina can be exposed to lateral winds what can make the mooring a bit more challenging as we would like.

When I came (early June 2024) people from the harbour where there to help passing the lines in the quay rings.

Lusthomen is a very nice well sheltered little harbour. It can hold about 20 boats mostly by mooring with stern buoys and pontoon.
You can pay on the automate what will give you a code to access toilets, showers, sauna and kitchen.
The electricity is optional and restricted to 6 Ampères. Many boat will need to tune their battery charger / inverter to cope with that restriction. Codes are paid until 15:00 the next day.
The shelter is very good and the place is neat and lovely.

This natural harbour on the East side of Askö at a place named Sandviken offer a nice anchoring opportunity for only a few boots.
The bay is narrow and not deep and more than half of it is very shallow (<1.5m).
But if you are lucky enough to find a place when the wind is not North west, it's great.
The pontoons are private but I have seen a boot mooring on the first one just for the night. That pontoon could take one boot on each side.

Visby can be busy but when I visited September 2024 and end May 2025 and it was very quiet.
The marina is in the hart of the old town and can be animated. The town is superb and worth a visit.
The harbour master is there is there to welcome you and helps to tie your boat if you arrive with a reduced crew or single-handed.
When the harbour occupancy is high, extra new facilities are opened.
You can benefit of a free car for 1 hour to make your shopping if needed.
The harbour master is very helpful, he also sells gaz (including German Gaz: Camping Gaz) and a few boat accessories (e.g. fenders) as Gotland island offers no chandlery.
The harbour is well sheltered EXCEPT by South West Wind where waves enter the Harbour and come to the very end through bouncing. The harbour master has a harbour charts that presents clearly where are the quiet zones.

Bönhamn is a nice old fisher village where only one fisher is still active (2 days a week). You will find a simple café with some cakes and simple food but no shop.
The Gästhamn mooring zone is spit in 3 sections where boats moor with aft anchor and to pontoon in high season. But 2 days before mid summer festival is was still empty and mooring along side was no issue.
The larger pontoon (located south east) offers electricity (limited to 4 Amperes) and water and is closed to the facilities but a big more exposed to northerly wavelet (noisy in the boat).
Facilities includes a kitchen, toilet and shower. The shower requires a 10SKK coin. Payment is done by mobile pay or at the café (cash or card).
The South east pontoon, is the smallest and offers only water but is closer to the coffee and offer the best shelter.
The northern pontoon offers only plain mooring and is the most exposed to wind.

Nice marina with easy access, well positioned North of Öland island.
The sheleter against waves is excellent, but not against wind. So select your best option to manoeuvrer would wind blows in the marina.
It might be busy in high season but in May (2024) only one restaurant-bar was open and with 5 boats, no need to book.
No shops, no bikes, ...

Nice marina and town but not always easy to find where to dock.
Out of season (May 2025) there are plenty of spaces but as many boats are still in winter mode and tied along side, most of the buoys are unusable.
There is no webcam, so you do not know where you could go without visiting the all place, what by 30kns of wind, is not pleasant to do.
I noticed later that on the university side (yellow building on the east), the finger pontoons allow for boat with a 4.5m beam.
Their offering for on the water winter-storage is competitive (2025-26).
Most of the area (May 2025) is under construction work and the place will be nicer when those building works are completed.

Marina in a cute little town where you can shop and eat even off season.
With strong Northerly winds, sailing south on Götland East coast Swaneke is the first harbour that is likely to be opened. The waves damping construction allows the harbour to remains opened even by strong Northerly winds. In such situation the entrance is not simple as you need to almost surf on the waves before turning 90° on starboard to enter. You need to trust your engine but the waves disappear as soon as you enter.
Facility are simple but good. You can by a path to the local sauna in the shop on the harbour ground.
Note: The only serious bad weather harbour on Götland East coast remains Nexø.

Ulvöhamn offers 2 marinas at less than 500m. The Kommunkajen is located on the north west side (left when you look at the wooden houses) and the Hotellbryggan on the north east side (right when you look at the wooden houses). The prices with electricity is the same in both places. Kommunkajen that is quieter offers a tariff without electricity while Hotellbryggan includes the washing machine in their tariff. Look at both harbour to get all the photos.
A sewage pumping station is positioned on the south east side of the bay.
Many anchoring options are also available.
Payment is done by mobile pay or by card at the café.
The café also sells fresh bread.
Mooring is either stern buoy and pontoon or stern anchor an pontoon.
You can also lie along side but then the tariff is doubled.

Gudhjem is a lovely village even if it's a bit too touristy (even in mid season).
The harbour is subject to swell making it's entrance dangerous, so it's often closed.
3 red light indicate (night) and a Red ball (day) indicate that status.
The webcam can be used to control the situation in advance.

A modern marina in the hart of Hanse boat boat yard.
You will find all the modern facilities and an excellent chandlery.
The town is on the other side, so you will need to work about 800m to get to the pedestrian bridge that leads to the city centre.
Visitors are mostly moored in the river where wind can create small waves that induce noise in the boat.
The town being part of the Hanseatic league is worth a visit.

The facilities are simple but clean and work.
The prices are extremely competitive.
A restaurant and harbour office is just at the end of the pontoons.
The town is cute and the area fantastic.

The marina lies in the inner old town. Access requires to pass the small lifting bridge.
The opening times are sync with the Rügen bridge. It still advisable to discuss your sailing plan with the harbour master.

You will only let in if you have secured a place with the harbour master. Take a temporary mooring on the quay opposite to the petrol station.
It seems a bit complex, but it worth the effort.
Facilities are simple but price very competitive.
Note: you need to call the petrol station to get it manned. It's possible to arrange the timing to fuel while leaving and pass the main bridge.

The entire zone is suitable for anchoring the bottom is sand. The coast line is very shallow and you anchor quite far from the land.
The challenge is to access the bay. The entrance is very shallow and the sand bank move.
I would not advise any one with more than 1.6m/1.8m draft to attempt it without local knowledge.
Due to this hurdle to come in the place remains very empty and quiet.

A perfectly equipped marina but without any charm.
Clearly a place where most places are used by regulars, the atmosphere is almost familial but as a visitor there is not much to see.
Shopping options are reduced to the almost nothing. If you do not want to go to a restaurant, come with your own food.

A very easy anchorage place just 1nm after the ferry terminal in direction of Lübeck.
A long the river there are quite a few options for anchoring. The cargo traffic is very reduced and is not an issue.

Probably the best harbour option in Travemünde. Personnel is very friendly and helpful.
The facilities are simple but operational. The wake from the ferries are still noticeable but a lot less than in the boxes available directly along the river.

The harbour is lovely but the access is NOT easy. The entrance has a very narrow passage of about 5m wide and 1.9m deep that is not really marked.
The passage is not strait, it follow a light curve. The fairway is indicated on the chart and must be followed with an accuracy of less than a meter.
Once in, it's easy, you moor with a stern anchor to pontoon. There is space for 3/4 boats maximum.
The toilets and showers are up the road 100m on the left (from the pontoon) and requires 5 SKK coins.
There is a restaurant/café and a museum.
Don't even think to try entering here if you do not master tight in-rocks navigation following a line on your plotter.
Once in, the shelter is perfect. You can U turn near the pontoon enabling to "easily" exit in forward mode.
We went in (and out) without any problem with a 13M*4m sailing dual rudder boat. I had lift the keel to 1.5m but 1.9m would have been easier during manoeuvrer, 2m should still pass but not more.
The width (4.5m remains a max) and draft will not be the main issue for most boats. 1m more in length should still pass but not with dual rudders. The challenge is to follow a light curve without having your rudders to hit the rocks. Larger boats could use their bow thruster to better control the aft drift. In windy day, I would not play as it's really very very tight.

Kemi is a nice marina located in a city that has not much more than a good train and bus station for crew exchange.
The north fairway is very shallow (1.7m on the chart in reality 2m passes in 2025). The south fairway is deeper (2.3m) which is the depth at the pontoon level.
The marina area is very pleasant with many restaurants and café and lively in summer.
You can rent a cargo bicycle to do your shopping.
Note there is no fuel pump.
Mooring is done with stern buoy on pontoon. Electricity and water is available on the pontoon.
People are very friendly and helpful as often in lapland.

stern The mooring with buoys and pontoons is easy. Would you be sailing single-handed, the rings on the pontoons are big enough to be tied directly from the boat.
Facilities are very fine but require 10 SEK coins (the shop can help you to get coins).
The shop / café / harbour master is very friendly and offers enough to keep going without requiring to visit a large (ugly) marina. They also bake nice cakes and bread.
The wooden sauna is booked from the shop and is as hot as in Finland.
The mooring is well sheltered except from Southerlies when some waves may render the mooring uncomfortable.
By nice weather, is high season, it may be full, don't arrive too arrive late.

The harbour is more equipped for a short visit than a long stay.
It's pretty exposed to wind and swell would built quickly.
But the Viking Centre and the view from the old fort is worth the detour.
It's said to be busy in summer but when I came in June 2025, I was alone and everything was closed.
Normal mooring is done with aft anchor and fore tied to the pontoon except for small boats where a few finger pontoons are available.
The quay shows a limitation up to 10 tons boats.
Out of season mooring a long side is not an issue.

This bay offers a nice anchoring opportunity. It can be used as an alternative to it's neighbouring natural Harbour (Krankholmen & Högholmen) when the wind is from NW to SE. The Wind is well attenuated by the trees and the commercial traffic wakes does not reach the bay.
The depth is comfortable for anchoring (3-7m).

Very nice small harbour. The North quay holds two 11-12m boat is 2m depth. Then another two or three more can raft up.
The West quay (see the blue sailing boat on the photos) accept a 15m boat but there is only about 1.2m of water at keel level and 40cm on the front.
The middle wood pontoon offer less than 1m depth.
The facilities are nice but limited (2 showers, 1 toilet) but enough for the harbour capacity.
You can only take water with a jerrican. Electricity requires a long cable and and an adaptor as it's provided via regular house sockets.
There is no shop but the café / restaurant is so good than you want to eat there. The evening sun and the view on your boat while enjoying a nice dinning, is not to be missed.
If the harbour is full, you can anchor 500m further and use your tender to visit the restaurant.

Lin Röyttä offers a good shelter without have to sails too much inland at mid distance between Kemi and Oulu.
You will find electricity on the pontoon but no drinkable water.
The Sauna access requires to be invited by a Sailing club member.
The walks on the island are nice.

Historical Gasthamn for the island. The closest to the Museum and Ferry but not any more in very good status.
Mooring is done with aft Buoys and pontoon.
Two new basic marinas have been created about 800m north and south from this point with finger pontoons.

The harbour is well sheltered. The south entrance is easy and draft is not an issue (~6m), the north one has far less water (1.7m on my chart may be more in the fairway but not indicated).
The facilities (Toilets, Shower, Washing machine, dryer, kitchen and dinning room are friendly, clean and opened all day and night.
The prices are very competitive.
There is a café in summer 300m from the harbour and nice walk in the vicinity.

Patholmsviken boat club is a very practical and friendly guest harbour even if it's a bit isolated.
You will be welcome by a friendly human, what is rare so far north.
All the facilities are available and included in the (reasonable) price (toilets, shower, sauna, washing machine, dryer, kitchen, dinning room, sewage, fuel). The crane mast can handle long masts (~20m) would you need it.
The supermarket and pharmacy are located 1.5km away. You can borrow bicycles with a trailer to make a real shopping before sailing further.
There is a back-road via the estate and a pedestrian/cycle path over the train track that mobile maps do not know and is easier and shorter than the main road. Ask to a local.
The bus (#123) can takes you from Umeå to 600m away from the harbour (Bus-stop Eriskdal).
You moor with stern buoy on pontoon. Depth is >3m at pontoon but only 2.7m at the fuel and sewage points.

The east harbour is well protected from almost any wind.
A pontoon can hold about 10 boats with stern anchor.
The bay can old a lot more boats at anchor.
The village is on the west side about 1 km away. The walk through the small well maintained paths is very pleasant.
The south west access path along Viberön island is restricted to 2.1m draft max and should be taken with care. Local users have added two uncharted buoys that help in the narrower passage.

Kälö is privately owned by a boat club but they accept visitors when there is space. An honesty box is located near the dry toilet.
The Sauna is only usable when boat club members are present.
Default mooring is done by stern buoy and rings on pontoon.
If the pontoon is full you can easily anchor in the bay (soft clay as often)
You can also moor to the rock on the south part of the bay.
For single hand sailors, the rings on the pontoon are very small and cannot be hooked from the boat.

Bjuröklubb is a cute but very small harbour. The normal mooring is done with stern anchor and pontoon what limit the boat size to about 10m.
In low season, you can tie along side (as the blue boat on the photo), in that mode, about 25m is available along the pontoon with opportunity to raft 1 level at the entrance and 2 by the end.
The harbour offers 2m depth on the quay side but the entrance is paved with some stones and sunken wood logs, so 1.8m draft is safer and easier.
In the entrance photo, the max depth route is shown and if you get more on the right side of it, depth reduces to 1.7m very quickly.
The sauna offers a great view on the harbour. Further up (800m) near the lighthouse there is, in season, a café and a restaurant. A terrace allows an easy access with a great view on that bay.
Would the harbour be full, you can anchor a bit further in the bay.
If you need to U turn before getting in, do it where water depth is safe for your draft. Once inside, U turn is unlikely to be possible.
Water is available in the Sauna and you need a jerrycan to bring it back to your boat.

When visiting Raahe you can either go to the marina which is 1.5km from town or take a mooring in the historical harbour by the museum and the city center.
The facilities are basic (you pay at the bar) but sufficient.
All places offer electricity but you may need a long cable.
Depth on the last fairway shows 1.7m on the chart but with 0cm wind tide, you have at least 2.2 m everywhere in the fairway and the harbour.
There is no water point accessible from boat on the mooring.

Maakalla is a very nice island with a very friendly community (in summer).
The bay is not large but can use used to anchor (2.5m).
The two visitor pontoon are only accessible to small draft boats. The bottom is sand, so you can take your chance (see photos for more details).
The ferry pontoon offers deeper water but can only be used during from 18:00 till 13:00.
Facilities only include dry toilets.
A donation as harbour fees is encouraged.

This harbour is located north of the ferry terminal. It not as well sheltered for any wind as the east harbour but surprisingly well even by Nord wind.
It's definitively open to south western winds.
Mooring is done with stern anchor and tie fore to the pontoon.
The area is lovely and the shop is only a few pace away.

A nice harbour with still some active fishers, so you can buy fresh fish.
The harbour offers a friendly atmosphere with a Café, Sauna (2), Shower (1) and Toilets (3).
You can fill your tanks from some places on pontoon. You may have to move your boat to fill up.
Electricity on the pontoon facing the Café is very limited and requires a very long cable.
Entrance is easy and depth is comfortable with 2.5m everywhere.
Swell under North Wind would enter the harbour and some place could become uncomfortable.

Brändöskär is a lovely old fisher harbour.
The entrance requires a good attention to navigation but the alignments triangles and cardinals buoys(not present on chart in June 2025) make it easy.
Depth is 3m.
The harbour is open on the East to wind but well sheltered from potential waves entry.
On the West side of the pontoon you find only 2 stern buoys, other boats must use stern anchor.
On the east side of the pontoon, it's stern anchor for all.
Facilities includes 2 sauna, 1 dry toilet and several grill places.
The small sandy beach is great for letting children play.

The bay is very small and offers two anchoring position for larger boats and for stone mooring for smaller ones.
You anchor in 2.5m over mud. You cannot leave a large swing as rocks are not far away but in mud the anchor hold well.
It's very well shelter and only wind from North/North-Est sector could make it in. You are sheltered of waves from any sector.
The area has as much rocks than water and a detailed chart is required.

Töre has nothing special except that it's the Northern harbour reachable with the mast up in the Baltic sea.
The photo of the crew and the boat near the yellow buoy is something that we all want to have as souvenir. When you pay the harbour fees (at the campsite), you will also be given a certificate for each crew member:-)
At the camping place you will find the traditional facilities (June 2025 Sauna was out of service) and a small restaurant.
You can shop at the supermarket (ICA) in Töre town center (1.5km walk along the main road). Check opening hours on internet. You can borrow a bicycle with a trailer at the campsite. The bus stop is by the supermarket.
By the harbour you will also find a museum on submarine activity in the area and be able to visit a Swedish Navy pocket submarine.

Lovely small island with a light house, small cabins and a Sauna.
The access with the Nature reserve chart and the extra navigation buoys is not complicated but requires attention to details.
The new pontoon was still under construction in July 2025 (the previous one was destroyed by ice) and is not located at the same place than the previous one (satellite photos in 07/2025 were not correct). 4 stern ring-buoys were present in July 2025 and aft anchor was required in the inner shallower section of the harbour.

Storjungfrun Gästhamn is a small harbour, closer to a natural harbour than a marina. Services are minimalistic (Dry Toilet and Self service wood fired Sauna).
Fresh water is available via a manual pump.
Boats ties fore to the pontoon with stern buoys (2 buoys, the smaller 3rd is private) or stern anchor (for the other). The pontoon can accept about 10 boats.
Shelter is very good.
They are flats and rocks in that harbour and a detailed chart is required.
Entering the harbour with the provided alignment is easy and safe even with 3.3m draft but to tie on the pontoon the maximum draft is 2.5m.

A small marina with the facilities of a natural harbour (finger pontoons but dry toilets and no electricity or water).
The hotel (when open, not as mid June 2025) offers (against a payment) access to a washing machine, showers and toilets.
The finger pontoon shows 4m beam but in reality they are more 3.9m (without fenders). The first one (with the blue boat on the photo) can take a boat up to 4.3m.
4 mooring aft buoys are also present, in theory not part of the Gästhamn but the only option for later boats outside of the single larger finger pontoon.
The place is lovely and the beaches offer real fine sand.
Water is available at the entry of the pontoon, so you will need a jerrican or 40m of pipe to refill your water tank.
