Approach and maritime conditions: Vibrandsøy is a beautiful island, just west of Haugesund center. It is great for both day trips and overnight stays. It is a short jaunt with a dinghy between Vibrandsøy and Haugesund. The bay where the floating dock is located is shallow, and you must follow GPS. Sailboats should be particularly cautious.
Docking: Longside on the floating dock. Space for two larger boats on each side. Sailboats must check the depth.

Entrance and maritime conditions: The island of Alden is well visible, with its peak towering above all the surrounding islands. Alden is also called the Norwegian Horse.
Anchoring: Floating dock with space for 3-5 boats and good depth for sailboats.
The old quay with car tires is occasionally accessed by a shuttle boat.
It is possible to anchor in several places in the bay. Wind strength and direction can be unpredictable due to the high mountain and downdrafts.
The area: The harbor is a great starting point for a hike up to the top of Alden. A moderately challenging hike of about 3km up to the peak at 480m.

Approach and maritime conditions: The approach is via Risavika Harbour. Here, one must be cautious as this harbour is trafficked by large ships. The entry is straightforward, and Tananger Harbour is a sheltered and safe harbour. In Tananger, there are two places to moor for guests. On the port side when you enter, there is a simple guest quay managed by Tananger Intermunicipal Harbour (see a separate page for that harbour). If you go a bit further in, you’ll find Tananger Guest Harbour, which is operated by Tananger Boat Association and has a service building with good facilities onshore. This page describes Tananger Guest Harbour. You moor to floating docks, and there is space for 20-30 boats here. At the innermost part of the harbour near the sanitary facility, boats with a draught of up to 2 meters can moor (completely at the inside by the stone quay, somewhat shallower). Otherwise, the depths at the floating docks are 3.5 meters or deeper.
Mooring: Tananger Guest Harbour has both fixed quays and floating docks with berths. You can moor the boat alongside or in a berth.
The area: Tananger inner harbour is a natural harbour with long maritime traditions. Previously, it was a well-known pilot station, characterized by the sale and export of lobster, and the area had rich herring fisheries. In the harbour, you often find shrimp trawlers selling both shellfish and fish. Along the harbour, you will also find the Coastal Culture Collection, an exhibition with old sailing ships, tools, historical dissemination, and the history of Tananger. Monsen House, said to be the oldest house in the area, and the Hummeren Hotel are also in the immediate vicinity of the harbour. A short walk from the harbour, you will find the town center with most of what you need. Grocery stores, hairdressers, clothing stores, hardware stores, and more. There is also an opportunity to refuel nearby. The beautiful Midgard Park is also a couple of minutes' walk from the harbour, with good opportunities for relaxation and play, equipped for barbecuing and with obstacle courses for both small and large.

Approach and maritime conditions: The fast ferry stops several times a day (docks on the other side of the narrow channel, near the sea house).
Thus, a good spot for crew changes.
Less suitable for swimming from the boat for the same reason.
Footpath over the bridge to the Sea House, which has both food service and canoe rentals. A canoe trip is highly recommended, you can also paddle to the end of the bay where there are facilities for grilling and making a bonfire, as well as a nice beach.
Mooring: The guest dock is in the southeast of the bay, and there you will find an L-shaped floating dock. There is both longside mooring and fingers where boats can moor in berths.
Røvær is a popular harbor, and if the guest dock is full, many also anchor further northwest in the bay. There is supposed to be a sewage pipeline between the northern and southern entrances to the harbor (not marked on the nautical chart in 2021), so you should anchor well into Suggevågen.
In the northern entrance to Røvær, there are two inlets inside Nipsholmen and Holkopp. They are well protected and marked with anchors on the nautical charts. In 2021, the seabed conditions were challenging here, with a lot of kelp making it difficult to get a hold with the anchor.
The Area: If the guest harbor is full, it is alternatively possible to dock at the cultural hotel "around the corner".

Approach and maritime conditions: The Boom (or Pjolter Bay as many call this place) is located just east of Risør center and is a popular natural harbor. The Boom is sheltered between some islets, and you can enter from the northeast or west. The northeastern passage is recommended for sailboats.
Anchoring: Mooring with a stern anchor towards the shore or anchoring at a depth of 6-10 meters. Mud bottom with medium hold, with a risk of getting tangled in old moorings and debris from previous industry nearby.
Docks: There are also quay facilities on Risøya, just east of Pjolter Bay.

The guest harbor is located at the inner end of the bay in Bergen. There are several quays you can moor to, and they are well equipped with water and electricity. The guest harbor is situated in the heart of Bergen, and there is naturally a bit of noise and commotion here. Both from land and from other boats in the harbor.

With southern and southeastern winds, you can anchor comfortably outside the harbor at Stråholmen. There are large areas to drop anchor with good holding and depths of 5-10 meters. There is space for a great many boats here.
On land, you will find nice buildings and pleasant paths heading southward on the island. It's also great for kayaking or paddling a SUP around Stråholmen on calm days.

Approach and maritime conditions: Halten is the northernmost fishing village in the island chain off Frøya. It is the last stronghold before you head over the Halten Bank northward and the first safe landfall when heading southward. Halten is exposed to rough weather, but you are safe in the solid harbor. The iconic lighthouse is visible well in advance of your arrival at Halten.
Mooring: There is a solid floating dock for guests just inside the breakwater to the west. It is a longside mooring.

Entry and maritime conditions: Scenic and north-facing bay on the outside of the island Austra, directly opposite Skei on Leka. Surrounded by lush and massive mountains. Onland there are fields belonging to a nearby farm. The entry is straightforward and easy. There is a ferry dock a bit northward which causes some rocking waves inside the bay.
Anchoring: In Rossvika, it is quite steep underwater. The depth ranges from 5-20 meters, with a deep channel around 20 meters. Therefore, it can be a bit challenging to get a good hold, but it is possible with a few attempts. An alternative is to drop the anchor deep and secure yourself to solid bolts on the east side of the bay. Then you pull the anchor towards shallow water, and you will get a better hold.

Approach and maritime conditions: Unmarked approach and quite a few shoals. Approach from the southwest, follow GPS and stay in the 'deep channel'. Not much room to swing, but enough space for a couple of boats.
Anchoring: Anchorage depth 3-8 meters. Good holding ground was reported by the sailors in the picture.

Ramsö is a cosy, sleepy island. In short distance from the harbour you find several small villages with old houses that are kept in good condition as summer houses. The island is generally very well kept and a pleasure to walk around. There are white sandy beaches on each side of the island, so you will always find somewhere protected for wind. There are no shops of cafés, so you need to bring supplies. I was here on a weekday in early June, together with about 8 other boats. I can imagine it being very crowded in July. The harbour is small and shallow. Sailboats can only moor in the inner harbour, either alonside or with a stern anchor and bow to.

Olav Pekeberg says:

Entrance and maritime conditions: Entrance is marked with informal stakes, maintain a calm speed and good lookout and you'll be fine. It is best to enter from the Northeast as the inlet from the west is narrow and shallow. Larger sailboats can only dock at the outer end of the long wooden pier (enough length for 2 sailboats if the outermost one extends well beyond the pier corner). Good harbor but the winds from N and NW might be felt a bit in here.
Anchoring: One can moor alongside the long wooden pier, or with a stern anchor towards the peninsula in the middle of the harbor.
The area: Beautiful shallow sandy beach perfect for swimming. Diving board on the outside. The area is developed by BOF. Also, an open shelter with an outdoor toilet for overnight stays. Several fire pits. Very popular harbor on good weather days. Note that the guest dock itself is somewhat shaded and can be cold until late in the day, but there are beautiful sunbathing areas along the beach where the sun arrives early.

Approaches and maritime conditions: Longva harbor is located on the south side of Flemsøya, north of Ålesund. The harbor is a good place to spend the night on the journey along the coast. The approach is uncomplicated, and the guest dock is a floating dock that you see straight ahead when you enter the harbor. It can be a bit tight to maneuver on the inside (west side) of the dock, but on the outside, it is easy to moor. Sailboats must be careful not to come too close to shore. The harbor is one of the few in the area that provides good protection from northerly and northeasterly winds.
The area: Flemsøya is part of the string of islands known as Nordøyane, located north of Ålesund, on the way towards Ona, Bjørnsund, and Hustadvika. From the harbor, you can see south towards Haramsøya, which in 2021 was much in the spotlight due to protests against wind power development on the island.

Approach and maritime conditions: Bjørnsund is located at the southern end of Hustadvika, a couple of nautical miles offshore from Bud. The fishing village consists of three main islands: Søndre Bjørnsund, Hammarøya, and Nordre Bjørnsund.
Approach
It is possible to approach the islands from various directions. If you are coming from the north through the inner route via Hustadvika, turn west at Bud and pass through Bjørnøysundet (between Nordre Bjørnsund and Bjørnøya). Watch out for the unmarked Digergallet to port before you go through Bjørnøysundet. If you come from the north along the outer route past Hustadvika, keep well inside Galdeskjæra and head towards Bjørnsund Lighthouse. If the sea is not rough, pass between the small island Bollen and the lighthouse island (Måøya), and then navigate around the east or west side of Søndre Bjørnsund. If the sea is rough, it may be safer to head towards Bud and arrive at Bjørnsund through Bjørnøysundet. If you are coming from the south along the route from Ålesund, either continue towards outer Hustadvika and turn in between Bollen and the lighthouse island (Måøya), or go south of Søre Orholmskjæret and navigate carefully past the stakes. Common to all approaches is that the waters are treacherous, and you must closely monitor the chart/GPS.
The harbor at Nordre Bjørnsund is shallow and has several unmarked reefs. See the pictures, where a typical spot where many sailboats ground is marked. There is also a 22-meter air clearance on the way into the harbor.
Mooring: In Bjørnsund, there are two docks with space for guests. The first is a floating dock located by the breakwater, right inside the harbor. A bit further into the harbor (keep starboard) there is also a new floating dock (2021), with space for two guests at the outermost part (longside on the corner you reach first, and on the outside of the first finger pier you come to). Both places accept payment via Vipps. Some boats also moor longside on the breakwater at the innermost part of the harbor.

Approach and maritime conditions: Skei is located on the eastern side and in the middle of Leka. Approach from the north. Well marked, but shallow. There is a ferry with frequent departures just south of the harbor.
Mooring: Longside mooring and space for many guests. It is quite shallow both on the way in and around the floating dock. Sailboats in particular should be cautious and preferably moor at the outermost spots on the western side of the floating dock. Sandy bottom, so it's not a disaster if you touch the bottom.

Approach and maritime conditions: The guest harbor is located in the harbor channel that runs through Brønnøysund, and is nicely positioned in the center of the town. Easy approach and access. Be aware of commercial traffic. Local ferries and the Coastal Express dock at the quays just north of the guest harbor.
Mooring: The guest harbor consists of a larger floating dock on the outer side and two smaller ones inside. On the inside of the outer dock, you moor in berths, otherwise alongside. There is quite a bit of traffic through the harbor channel in Brønnøysund, and the further in you get, the better you stay. It is deep around all the docks, but sailboats should not get too close to the stone buildup towards the land and the mole.

Bovallstrand is a small town with a quite large marina (gästhamn).
You can moor alongside and towards floating docks and alongside a fixed pier. It’s also possible to anchor between the marina and Badholmarna.
The marina is well protected from southernly and westernly winds, and is a great alternative when it’s too windy for the natural harbours outside.
Older, but clean service house just inside the piers. Warm showers included in the harbour fee. No coins needed.

Approach: Titran is exposed to harsh weather conditions, located on the far west of Frøya. The sea stretch from Hitra over to Frøya can be challenging, but navigating into the harbor is straightforward. Head directly towards Titran and keep Sandholmen to port to enter the harbor.
Guest berths: There are several places to moor for guests. The best option is the first floating dock you reach on the port side as you enter the harbor. It is located outside "Isak Gaustad Eftf." Here, there is a floating dock with space for two larger boats on the outside. The inside is shallow, so it is recommended only for smaller boats. Behind the "Gaustadbrygga" you will find service rooms with a WC and shower. There is no power on the dock, but inquire with those on land and they can arrange it for you. If the floating dock is full, you can go a bit further in to a concrete fisherman's quay. This is also on the port side. The dock is used by fishing boats and other commercial traffic, but if there is available space, you can moor here. Contact Willy Olsen at +47 92854856 if you have questions about this quay. Freshwater is also available at the Fisherman's Quay.
The Area: Titran has scattered buildings and it is nice to go for a walk or run in the area. Titran is otherwise known for the catastrophic Titran accident, where a sudden storm took the lives of 141 fishermen in 1899. You will find a monument and information on land.

Sandøybukta is a delightful natural harbour located just outside Hvasser. There are some blue buoys here and a large area for anchoring. Entrance and maritime conditions: Kristiansund Guest Harbor is located in the inner harbor of Kristiansund. The harbor in Kristiansund is a crossroads, where you can sail in from the lanes in the east, south, and west. To the north, there is a bay naturally closed off by land. On the left side (west side) of this bay, you will find Kranaskjæret Guest Harbor Kristiansund. The guest harbor is well protected from the wind and is little affected by swell and waves from commercial traffic. You can moor alongside or in berths on nice floating docks. A large part of the quay facility is new in 2021. Deep around all docks. You do not anchor towards the dock.
Mooring: Mooring in berths with walkways from the floating docks and to floating docks without berths.
The area: Kristiansund is located on the outer coast of Nordmøre, a little north of the infamous Hustadvika. Kristiansund has a great coastal and maritime history, and you will see many remnants of a bygone era of greatness when sailing into the town. It is particularly worth noting all the old wharves. Many of these are unfortunately in poor condition. From Kristiansund Guest Harbor, it is a 700 meters walk to the city center, where there are many cafés and restaurants. Further into the bay lies Mellemværftet, which is a well-preserved shipyard from the sailing ship era.

The bay inside Kalvön is a fantastic anchorage. It is one of the first places you come to after passing Kosterfjorden heading south. It can be quite rough out on Kosterfjorden, but as soon as you get inshore, the wind and sea calm down dramatically. In this harbor, you are well protected from all wind directions. The surrounding islands vary in height and some wind can get in, but all waves are kept out. The water is relatively shallow and it is easy to anchor here. The area is large, so there is room for many boats to swing around.

Approach and maritime conditions: The port at Herøy farm is located on Flåværleia, which runs from Breisundet near Ålesund to Stadt. Approach is possible on both sides of Stegleholmen, but these are not marked other than what is found on nautical charts. Visitors, including sailboats, can dock on one side of the quay/floating dock and it is 2.3 m at low tide. In Flåværleia, there is commercial traffic that can create some waves. Be mindful of wind from the north.
Mooring: At Herøy farm, there is a fixed quay and a simple floating dock that can be used freely. The depth is 2.3 meters, and one can sail in from Flåværleia on both sides of Stegleholmen. In the sanitary building behind the museum, there is a freshwater tap and a 24-hour toilet during the period from June to August. In the parking lot (200 m walk) there are waste containers. On the opposite side, in Herøysundet, one can moor to the land and anchor in the harbor. The depth is 7.7 meters. See nautical charts for details.
The area: The island of Herøy has had a central place in the region for over 1000 years. There was a church site with a guild hall in the Middle Ages, a court site, a parsonage, and a trading post until 1916. Herøy was the first important harbor north of Stadt and the island lies in Flåværleia - the fairway that has always borne seafarers either straight through to other destinations or to a safe harbor in the fairway itself. Today, one can visit Herøy farm with the coastal museum and the Sunnmørsjekt Anna Olava, which constitutes the old trading post as it looked in the 1700s and 1800s. Herøy farm is also a key site along the Coastal Pilgrimage Route and is a beautiful recreation area. One can reach the island by both boat and car. Approach and maritime conditions: Signalodden is located northwest on Jeløya. Most would probably not consider this a typical anchorage, but it is a nice stop on the way in and out of the Oslofjord. You get the best protection with an east wind. If waves enter the Oslofjord from the south, they tend to creep around the headland at Signalodden and can cause some rocking. The approach is uncomplicated, as long as you navigate around the four green stakes a little west of Signalodden and watch out for a 1.6-meter shallow area near the land. Check the nautical chart to be sure.

Approach and maritime conditions: The center of Ålesund is divided into two by the transverse Brosundet and the inner harbor. Only small boats can pass through Brosundet from the south, and you enter the harbor from the north side. The guest harbor in Ålesund consists of floating docks, which you will see right in front of you as you enter the harbor. The approach to the harbor is straightforward, with a few well-marked skerries (e.g., Olsskjer). There is quite a bit of activity in Ålesund harbor, and you should be particularly mindful of the fast boats (ferries) that frequently dock at Skansekaia. You should avoid passing through the harbor entrance when the ferries are going in or out of the harbor. The rapid arrivals also create some waves and currents around the guest harbor, and you should take this into account when fendering and mooring.
Mooring: The guest harbor in Ålesund has a floating dock running along the shore, and two floating docks extending from it. On the two extending floating docks, you moor alongside. If there are few boats in the harbor, you can also lie alongside on the innermost floating dock, but when the harbor fills up, you line up with the short side. You get lateral support from the two extending floating docks.
The area: Ålesund is a compact and beautiful city centrally located in the inner shipping lane along the coast. The guest harbor is closely surrounded by buildings in Art Nouveau style. A little east in the center lies the Aksla viewpoint, which you reach via 418 steps. On the north side of Aksla is also "Borgernes Vei", which is good for walking and running (5 km each way).

Approach and maritime conditions: Dragsundet is located northwest on Håøya. If you want to go all the way into the bay, you need to watch out for a shoal that many run aground on.
Anchoring: In Dragsund, there are several places to anchor or moor. At the very innermost part of the bay, you anchor with the stern to the shore. A bit further out, there is a long floating dock where you can moor alongside, but it often gets full, so then you anchor with the stern to the dock. Outside the floating dock, it is also possible to lie at anchor, but the underwater terrain is a bit steep (5-20 meters).
The area: Håøya is the largest recreational area in the Oslofjord and offers many opportunities for outdoor activities. There are hiking trails northward towards Bjørnebukta, southward towards Tåjebukta, and eastward towards Håøybukta. There is waste disposal and restrooms on land.

Approach and Maritime Conditions: The guest marina is beautifully located in the heart of the inner harbor in Kristiansund, with an easy and well-marked approach. Be aware that Kristiansund is an active harbor with commercial traffic, and it is important to stay vigilant and yield as a recreational boat. At the north end of the guest dock, there are berthing facilities for the Gripruta and Sundbåten. Sundbåten is public transportation between the various 'lands' in Kristiansund, with frequent stops throughout most of the day. This guest marina experiences some waves from the boats operating in the harbor and can also experience waves during easterly winds. If you seek better protection, you can move further into the harbor (northward), where you will find the large guest marina of the Småbåtlaget.

Approach and maritime conditions: Kollevåg consists of 2 bays developed as recreational areas. In the western bay, there are several beaches with sand and gravel. Large lawns on land. Diving board. In this bay, there are few or no places to moor (small boats can be pulled up on the beach, and one can lie next to the rock at the nudist beach) and it is also not allowed to anchor as there is a geotextile fabric on the bottom of the bay. If you want to visit this bay, you can also stay in the guest harbor of Askøy Sailing Association where there is a path (about 100m) to the innermost and nearest beach.
In the eastern bay, there is a large stone pier at the very end (with a large barbecue hut on the pier) and a number of mooring bolts along the rock for boats lying with stern anchors. Furthest out, there is also an unfendered old stone pier. If you stay here, it might be worth knowing that you have to pass through the area's only free (nudist) beach to get to the rest of Kollevågen.

Both of the mentioned wooden piers (the pier by the house cannot be used if the house is rented out) have good depth for sailboats. On the northern side of the island there is a wooden pier that is a public area, here you can dock for free. Beautifully developed area with benches and a fire pit on land. At this pier, there is also shore power available (for a fee; docking at the pier itself is free). There is only room for one boat; alternatively, boats can dock alongside each other.
The area: Free-ranging chickens on the island during the summer, you can collect eggs and pay using Vipps. Many small walking trails and information boards about the island's history.

A little more than halfway into Sandefjord, you will find Seilerholmen of Sandefjord Seilforening. There is a large pier complex on the north and northwest parts of the island, along with a smaller facility on the southern side.
On the southern side of the island, a new service building was constructed in 2022, with nice toilet and shower facilities (open during the summer season and weekends in spring/autumn). There is water and electricity available on the northern piers.
The waters around and close to the piers are not clean. Pay close attention to the charts.
Seilerholmen is child-friendly, with an entire small island to explore. Grasslands, small beaches, and rock faces to jump from. In Sandefjord, it is an unwritten rule that parties are toned down on Seilerholmen in favor of the children, while those who wish to stay up later go to Buerøya (directly east, on the other side of Sandefjorden).

Kalvön Fiskehamn is a great base to discover Trossö-Kalvö-Lindö. The three islands are connected by a 5km simple road, passing by several villages and herds of Scottish Highland Cattle. The houses and gardens are extremely well kept and I highly reccomend exploring the islands.
The harbour is very small and shallow. You moor alongside the pier and it's room for a few boats to moor on each other. The harbour area looks large, but most of it is very shallow. You'll find a dry toilet and waste bins, but nothing else here.

Approach and maritime conditions: On the inner side and directly east of Klubbøya lies a beautiful and well-protected natural harbor. The natural entrance is the passage directly south of Klubbøya, and here you must watch out for the line of submerged rocks that continue from Klubbøya (towards the southwest). You'll pass these on your port side when entering. As soon as you are inside the harbor, there are two unmarked submerged rocks on your starboard side. Centrally within the harbor, conditions are better and there is ample space to anchor or moor against Klubbøya (and presumably Golma). In the passages that run north and northeast of the harbor, it is too shallow to navigate with anything other than a dinghy.

Approach and maritime conditions: Børøya is located in the archipelago in Nord-Trøndelag, inside Haltenbanken. Many use this as a day anchorage, but if the weather permits, you can easily stay overnight.
Anchorage: Anchorage depth is from 5-25 meters. The seabed is steep, which can make it challenging to get a good anchor hold if you are swinging at anchor. You get a more secure anchor hold by securing the stern or bow to land. This way, the anchor goes deeper than you, and it doesn’t release as easily. It is also quite narrow here, which also argues for tying up to land.

Approach and maritime conditions: The inlet at Ny-Hellesund is a sheltered and pleasant harbor. There is a quay for motorboats and several spots to moor with a stern anchor towards the shore. There is a walkway to Tvillingvardene and Olavssundet.

Approach and maritime conditions: Natural harbor west of Bømlo, right by Skotningen lighthouse. Simple approach between two iron stakes.
Anchoring: Anchoring at depths from 8-15m. Typical depth is around 10m at the natural anchoring spot. It is possible to dock alongside the rock on the east side, but it is steep to come ashore there. The harbor generally provides good protection, but wind and waves from S-SE will be felt.

Approach and maritime conditions: The anchorage is located in a sheltered bay inside Urdøya at the very west of Hitra. It is possible to approach the bay from several directions, but if you want deep water and to avoid aerial cables, it is obvious to enter from the west. On the approach, you will encounter two unmarked reefs to port (they are located west of Ersholmen). The innermost of the reefs, according to several nautical charts (May 2021, Navionics and Påsjøen), is a skimming reef at 0.1 meters, but at low tide, the top sticks more than a meter above the water. This clearly shows that there are some inaccuracies in the nautical charts, and one should particularly keep this in mind when entering shallower waters around the anchorage. The anchorage inside the bay is large enough for a couple of boats. However, there is not much room to swing around, so plan well according to wind direction. The bay can be exposed to winds coming through channels between the islets. Apart from westerly weather, it is very well protected from swell and waves. Here you lie flat and nicely.
Anchoring: 4-8 meters anchoring depth. Sandy bottom with some brown seaweed and kelp, but still good holding.

On the north side of Kalvön, there is a large natural harbor that is very popular for recreational boats. In the outer (eastern) part of the harbor, there is space for many boats to dock against the shore. In small coves, there are nice swimming spots.

In the bay north of Yttre Huö, there are plenty of bolts for securing. It is deep enough for sailboats to lie alongside, but slanted and high rocky outcrops make it challenging to fend and come ashore. Sailboats lie well across the bay with lines ashore at the bow and stern.
Shellsand on the bottom does not provide the best anchorage.

The bay on the west side of Stora Korpmaren has good protection against easterly winds and you have a great sunset view here.
You moor towards land, but be careful with underwater rocks. There are better places to moor, but once you make it onto land you'll have a great time here.

Approach and maritime conditions: Rauane is situated at the southernmost outlet from Kragerø, between Portør and Jomfruland. It is an excellent natural harbour on the way up or down the southern coast. The approach is rough and poorly marked, so you need to be cautious. It is possible to enter from the east, but the nautical charts recommend a marked approach from the south. If you enter from the east, you must navigate between two shoals with a depth of 1 meter. If you take the southern route, there is a submerged rock in the middle of the channel on the way in. Use GPS. There is a cable running through the anchoring area, so you need to anchor well to the south in the inner harbour. There is only enough room for one to two boats here, but more if moored against the shore.
Anchoring: Anchoring at about 10 meters depth. It's also possible to moor using a stern anchor towards the land, but be careful as the waters are very rough.
The area: Rauane consists of many smooth, bare islets and is a piece of coastal paradise. The islands on the northern side have old buildings that are now cabins, and the islands to the south are undeveloped. This is a perfect place for children to run around and play.

Approach and maritime conditions: Kuvauen is located at the outermost part of Vesterøy on Hvaler and is an anchorage without any facilities. Kuvauen is a popular harbor that is nice for families with children. The approach is straightforward and it is great to anchor in Kuvauen. Good depth. Approximately 7 meters.
Anchoring: Moor with anchor and shore line. Good seabed for anchoring with solid holding.
The area: Great hiking terrain, good beaches and camping spots.
Nice small bay with space for 4 - 5 boats. Looks a bit tight on the chart, but it works fine with 20 meters of chain for the anchor. Approximately 7 meters depth. Nice bathing beach at the innermost part of the bay, some daytime visitors with boats, but generally quiet in the evenings. Old fishermen's huts along the shore.
A bit exposed to winds from the south, but the reefs outside break the waves.
At the innermost part of the bay there is a nice, shallow bathing beach, ideal for children to play. There are built-up grills and benches/tables.

Anchoring: It is possible to moor alongside with a sailboat on both sides of the bay. Good depths. You can also anchor stern-to, but the holding isn't very good. Therefore, it is not a typical swinging harbor. Suitable for smaller motorboats further into the bay. Shallow beach at the innermost part of the bay.

Legend has it that the sea witch Guri Kunna haunts this harbor, but most agree that it is something locals say to scare others away from this good spot.

Entrance and maritime conditions: If you are coming from the south, Nerliholmen is right after Steinvik Camping in Furnesfjorden.
Anchoring: Nerliholmen is a small island in Furnesfjorden. If you are coming from the south, it is the first bay after Steinvik Camping and a good place to anchor. Be careful around the island, as it is very shallow with many underwater rocks. If you go between the island and the mainland, the depth is 2 - 3 meters. Inside the bay south of the island is a good anchorage.
Watch out for grazing fences, they extend into the water and are clearly visible from the shore, be careful not to get your anchor or propellers caught in them.
Inside the bay, the water temperatures are high.

Lyabukta is a nice bay with some old buildings on land. It's an old uninhabited farm, but in the summer there are still animals here. A trip on land is reccomended. The anchorage is quite deep at +20 meters, but the hold is good. It may be possible to anchor further north and closer to land, but the charts are not very detalied so take good care.
